World Cup Semi Final As Next Target - Before The Gas Runs Out

It is common knowledge that football form, especially for national teams, is in cycle.

A time to be at the peak, a time to begin to descend and a time to be at lowest ebb and a time to recover. And the cycle continues.

From 1990 to 1994, Nigeria's Super Eagles gradually moved up the form ladder, reached peak between 1994 - 1996, began to decline from 1998 and banked on pedigree to stil remain force to reckon with between 1998 - 2004, with the retirement of key players between after 2004, the team struggled between 2004 to 2012. Now back on its feet.

Ghana, Egypt, Senegal, Cameroun also went through the cycle at different times.

At Nigeria's peak between 1994 - 1996, Nigeria won AFCON 94 and Olympic 96.
At Senegal's peak between 2001 - 2002, they got to AFCON 2002 final and quarterfinals at world cup
At Ghana's peak between 2006 - 2010, they got to AFCON 2010 final and world cup quarterfinal, almost thru to semis

This is Nigeria's peak again, since the decline after 1994-96, we have AFCON already, can we stun at world cup by getting to or close to semi final like Senegal/Ghana, before the decline sets in again?

we have the confederation cup in june this year against the likes of spain and brazil, that should be our next target, if we can win the confederation cup, then we can do well at the world cup.

OFF TOPIC. JARUS WHY DON'T YOU APPLY FOR SPORT MOD, YOU ARE VERY GOOD IN SPORT SECTION

It is only through hard work and free hand to Keshi to do his job without external interference.

We are all rejoicing now because we win the trophy. If by any chance Keshi fail to beat anything within a short period, we are will call for his head. we only need patience with whoever is coaching our team either he is loosing or winning.

I remember when we started very slow some were already written Keshi off and calling for Olisa to replace him, but i said it is better to start very bad and emerge victorious at the end. Now it just happened.

I will still propose or suggest we attach Siasia to Keshi as part of his technical advisers (Just my opinion cool cool)

Stumbled on this news earlier, our triumphant Eagles will be super rich especially the home based players smiley

Mike Adenuga rewards Eagles with $1m, promises to pay Keshi’s salary from March

Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr, the CEO of Globacom, on Sunday night rewarded African champions, the Super Eagles with a whopping $1million. Stephen Keshi received $200,000 from the billionaire businessman shocked, who also assure him he will take over payment of his salary from March. Adenuga made these announcements, shortly after the 1-0 win over Burkina Faso.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa, had earlier given the team N130million and promised to do more if they won the trophy. The team will arrive Nigeria, where they will be received by the president on Tuesday and the government’s package for them will be unveiled.

Let us qualify for the world cup first, abi na automatci qualification?
Don't let us get ahead of our selves, humility was one of the things that got this team thus far, they shouldn't lose it yet.

We have to qualify first!

This is still a young team. The 94 and 96 teams are ahead in terms of quality but this team cold achieve more because most of the players are not yet at their prime.

It took us 5 years to build a team that was number 5 in the world. This team is barely a year old... We will still have to be patient with them.

CHRISKY: Delusion!!!

When did dreaming big become delusional. The only delusion here is ur myopic thinking.

Nigeria can make it to the semis, the team has grown, their style of play has also blended and thats what makes a good team. United with one purpose they wld lift the world cup.

Up Eagles.

Re: Eagles Next Target : World Cup Semi-Final? by pelezico: 1:26pm On Feb 11, 2013
We have a good team however we need to blood more talent so that we have potentially two good players for every position

We should simply continue were we left off - Nigeria will likely become a better commodity again and teams will want to play us.

For now we should simply cool and then reflect on what we could have done better.

We have to retain that West African (or specifically that Nigeria) flare in our game and do not try to mimic Spain. If we do that will be our downfall. We can beat Spain since i believe our players are stronger and just as skilful however to beat the South Americans and best of Europe our game must be more African.

Dose who have won it countless Times aint Demigods. We can do it if we put out minds to it. Remember beating Brazil, that was football world powér, in Olympic 96? Take ♏ԑ to bethel again!

What a defeatist approach? Next target is the World Cup. #Sheesh

You have won most important trophies available, your next target should be the biggest one you have never won.

Please no start another confusion. How two masters go dey control one ship. Abey Daniel Omokachi and Ike Shorunmu don do or dey no be Naija boys too. Please allow Keshi to run his team and keep your advise to yourself.
