LEGISREPORTS NG – Approval has been given by the Kastina State House of Assembly to the Karaduwa people of Southern Katsina to break out of the Katsina Emirate Council.
This decision was made following a motion moved by Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Mahuta, member representing Malumfashi constituency and Minority leader of the Katsina State House, which was unanimously adopted.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Haliru Atiku(PDP, Bakori).
The approval was given by the State House of Assembly in a bid to enact a law supporting the transfer of the seven local governments making up Karaduwa toDaura emirate council.
Legisreports gathers that the seven local governments transferred to Daura emirate council include kusada, Dutsi, kankia, Mashi, Ingawa, Mani and Bindawa.
Alhaji Abdullahi pointed out that the reason for the transfer of seven local governments centers on the fact that the affected local governments share common culture and norms with the Daura people, saying also that the move would require the remission of funds which are to be deducted from the seven local governments to the Daura Local Government council.
Legisreports learnt however, that two more emirates councils would be carved out from Katsina Emirate which would include one in Dutsin-ma and another in Karaduwa zone.
Announcing the resolution of the house, the Speaker, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, noted that the request of the lawmaker could not materialize without a legal framework that would back the action of the House.
