It is normal for people to respond the way you guys are doing, but any student of culture would understand the intrcacies in the act. The boy is standing in place for his grandfather who never had a white wedding. As such, the boy is merely a stand-in person for the grandfather to complete the ritual (for whatever purpose not explained). It can be likened for a relative standing in for someone getting married. The boy is not 'married' persay to the woman. |
