I hope this is the right section for this question

I believe ORM is better than UML static diagrams modeling in the following ways

1. Verbalization
2. Many-Many Relationship support
3. Constraint and easy Mapping to Relational View Design etc.

This is my opinion, please share your opinion. Why UML is better than ORM or ORM better thn UML

ORM - Object Role Modeling
UML - Unified Modeling Language

actually the both are not related ORM deals with abstracting Databases in Object Types just like Entity Framework and nHibernate, while UML is a modelling your objects for quick understanding, you can still UML ORM Objects, so really i don't think i get your question.

@OP: When I saw this topic, I was shocked cause these are two concepts that dont have a basis for comparism.
From what I knw and use, ORM is called Object Relational Mapping and is simply a technique of mapping your Entities/Classes/Objects to Tables in ur DB and UML means Unified Modelling Language which is used during system design for your workflows, models etc...
Am I mistaken?

Don't be shocked. These concepts are high. Now I envisage this guy as new to programming and coming across UML and ORM and mere seeing the word "model" in both thinks that they are about the same thing. If only he had googled and read about them. Even at that he could also have made the same mistake. ORM is something you will know about after dealing with basic database concepts which are abstracted in enterprise persistence frameworks. In the future when he looks back and sees this kind of confusion of ideas, he will only laugh at his ignorance.

So sorry for the mistake. i wanted to say UML static diagram like class or object diagram' vs ORM.

UML do relate with ORM because they r both use for modeling (information analysis). just that Uml uses object oriented approach while orm use fact-oriented approach.

Programmers will always tink my question on orm is object relational mapping which is a framework or design pattern. if u read my question i said that am nt sure if this is the right place for the question

Probably this forum would be more accommodating if it was named "Software Development" rather than "Programming".
Just Googled Object Role Modelling now and saw what you were trying to say, not really interested though cause UML serves me well.

i think we need software development forum. is like Nigerian IT firm r not familiar or not use to ORM. if they do atleast hardworking guys like u be aware of it.
