^Thanks. Nigeria, and the world of 2213 will be a very different place from today. All material needs would have been met. There will be no paid employment. People would simply pursue their talents and passions. Success would come through self-improvement as opposed to material wealth acquisition. The average Nigerian would live up to 250 years owing to dramatic advances in medicine and genetics. Crime rate would be zero. An advanced power source superior to electricity would be widely available for free, powering all homes and industries. Everything will be recycled as a matter of course, maintaining the earth's ecological balance. Nigeria would be among the top 5 advanced nations on earth. |

ROSSIKE: ^Thanks. Nigeria, and the world of 2313 will be a very different place from today.I salute your optimism. However, Nigeria can only come near some of those advances in next 200yrs if she does not slip back to military rule. If Nigeria can have political stability within the period, then she'll witness tremendous progress |

CFCfan: Wow! Those pics are amazing. Nigeria will definitely be a well-developed nation by then. Did you notice the names of the officers? By 2213 Nigeria would have been so ethnically integrated, with most families being multi-ethnic through intermarriage, that most people's names would include one or two names from other ethnicities. The days of tribalism and ethnic rivalties would have long been consigned to the dustbin of history. A typical history class would start with the words... ''Ancient Nigerians were for many years hobbled by ethnic rivalries and conflict....Their barbarism was such that they voted in political leaders based solely on ethnic affiliation....By the 2050s, increased investment in education, economic progress and social enlightenment led to the gradual erosion of such savage tendencies in the people.. @ROSSIKE: Let not your heart be troubled, ethic integration will be common-place by then. "State Of Origin" would cease to exist, as regards to a person's qualification for an elective office. |

"State Of Origin" would cease to exist, as regards to a person's qualification for an elective office. Mehn, can you imagine being a Nigerian high school student in a history class in 2213? ''Poverty was so rampant in ancient Nigeria that people used to sit and beg on the streets. The majority of people lived in sub-standard housing, with megacities like Lagos being home to huge slums and shanties...'' The students would regard Ancient Nigerians, ie us, the exact same way we regard our iron age ancestors today. 1 Like |

I laugh in 2000 B.C. Hebrew. Why are we so unrealistic? This is nothing more than a wish. Why do you think this is where we will be? 50 years ago, Nigeria was predicted to be amongst the world powers; today, we are amongst the world powers, in corruption. |

markingday: I laugh in 2000 B.C. Hebrew. Why are we so unrealistic? This is nothing more than a wish. Why do you think this is where we will be? 50 years ago, Nigeria was predicted to be amongst the world powers; today, we are amongst the world powers, in corruption. Nobody predicted anything about Nigeria 50 years ago. And certainly not based on any economic growth figures or indices, which were appalling at the time to say the least. Secondly, Nigeria has progressed tremendously from where it was 50 years ago when there was mass illiteracy, no universities, zero middle class, no expressways, cars and phones only for the super rich, and mass poverty and disease, with people walking around barefoot even in the cities. Oh, and corruption was actually WORSE 50 - 100 years ago. The British rulers made no pretense at trying to develop the country, with at least 90% of all national export earnings diverted to London from 1914 to 1960. This was why most of our grandparents were illiterate peasants. So count your blessings that indigenous rule began in 1960, with the attendant massive govt investment in education, without which you would have been no different from your illiterate, poverty-stricken, stuck-in-the-farm forebears. Thanks. |

ROSSIKE: Nobody predicted anything about Nigeria 50 years ago. And certainly not based on any economic growth figures or indices, which were appalling at the time to say the least. Isn't it hypocritical to say this since you didn't base your predictions on any economic growth figures or indices? All you did was put up a bunch of wishful thinking pictures. Ironically, these pictures were created by foreigners. |

Here is the question: what are you doing today as a seed to bring Nigeria to this level by 2213? Enough of the vision 20-this and 20-that when people are not even ready to take their destiny in their hands If you dont touch the lives of that poor child in your environment or leave a legacy of hardwork and character for your kids and demand accountability from your leaders, dont expect Nigeria to develop out of the blues. Sow a seed. Frawzey |

markingday: Please spare us your misery. If you had a brain would you be asking me about current economic indices of growth? Can't you check it up yourself and compare it with whatever economic growth indices we had in the 1950s or whenever you claim people predicted Nigeria to be a world power? And so what if the images were created by spacemen or foreigners? Please keep your miserable self to yourself and let us be. |
Re: Nigeria In The Year 2213 (pics) by Nobody: 11:55pm On Mar 08, 2013 |
Boss13: Predicted by WHOM?? Today I can name you several genuine economic agencies and experts that have made projections about Nigeria's future based on current economic growth rate of 7%. From PriceWaterhouseCoopers to Actis, and from the ADB to Goldman Sachs. The list is endless. 50 years ago Nigeria's GDP growth rate was less than 2% annually so WHO made the prediction you're talking about? Tell us. And based on WHAT measurements or criteria? I mean, if some 60s western politician made some sweet-tongued utterance about Nigeria being a future global power, it is UTTERLY DIFFERENT from the current situation where such projections are made by actual economic experts and analysts based on verifiable economic data and social indices. So you cannot equate the two scenarios. That's intellectual laziness. |
