DailyPost investigation has revealed that the political bigwigs of the All Progressive Congress are on the search for a vice-presidential candidate who will be the running mate of the party’s consensus candidate during the 2015 presidential election.

We have gathered that stalwarts of All Progressives Congress are keen on having a popular serving governor in the south, whose image can attract massive votes, and also with the view that the presidential candidate will come from the North.

APC is made up of the Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Peoples Party, Congress for Progressive Change and a faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance.

Already, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola; his Edo State counterpart, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole; and Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, are on the shortlist, though they have not been approached yet.

A source within the APC said, “It is true we are looking for a suitable vice-presidential candidate from the South, particularly the South–West, because unless something dramatic happens, our flag bearer is coming from the North.

“The overwhelming thinking among members of the coalition is to have a young progressive, preferably one that has a track record of performance, for the post.

“As for the presidential candidate, everything being equal, we should know who the candidate is soon.

“For now, we have not yet agreed on who it should be, but I can tell you, Fashola is one of them, however, we cannot take a final decision on this until we are able to get leaders of his primary constituency to agree.”

Just last week, the Convener of the Concerned Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, on Friday evening, also confirmed that the North was seeking a vice-presidential candidate in the South.

According to him, “In the event of the presidency returning to the North, the issue will be who will deliver the votes from the South for the prospective candidate from the North.

“As I see it, the only person I see who can do it is from the South-West even though the South-West has its own challenges. Challenge number one will be to bring out a candidate from the Christian North who will now peer up with a likely candidate who will be from the South-West. Fortunately or unfortunately, the South-West is not terribly obsessed with matters of religion,” he added.

APC has said it would hold its national convention in the coming weeks. Presently, the party is in the process of filing for registration.

This shows that it all boils down to returning power to the north for keeps.they are looking for collaborators from the south to hire. Old school approach. Naija is wiser now.
Christian North can't vote for any muslim from the north, the Middle belt has pitched there tent with the SS/SE n the SW know that they v to follow the north but on the last minute. Though okorocha is loved, this is different on the matter of presidency.. He is on his own even his wife n inlaws won't vote for him. Am certain , Ogun, Ondo, Lagos will deliver for Southern presidency. While apc will struggle for osun, ekiti. Oyo is most likely going for south.
In the north, GEJ has parleys even those in his cabinet n people that matter. So looking at the statistics, the Power of incumbency will preveil.abi people from chad n niger n mali n northern cameron go fit enter naija vote again? NO !! When we dey check our borders.
The south is more populated than the north FACT!
The britsh man that carried out the census has confessed doubling north population to punish the South for asking them to leave.
The christian North has vowed to work with the South to STOP the muslim north. Hence power remains in Down South!

My candid advice to APC: Pick Rochas as your presidential candidate and pair him with a muslim from the North. Pitch it as strategy to re-unite the country. 8 years later power can go back to the North
.

Any other permutation hands power back to the incumbent.

What experience has Rochas got to become the Vice President of this country? Do you even realise that the office of the Vice President and that of the SFG is the power house of the government? Rochas should remain in IMO State and show us that He truly understands government. Fashola, Oshiomhole both have demonstrated their capacity to manage complex societies and bring about positive change even in the face of threats, blackmail, and despair and have done so courageously. We need such people in the presidency. Rochas has not demonstrated much of these qualities yet and He needs to do so by bringing IMO State out of the ashes.

Lmao at this clown. And what experience does fashola have to be the vice president of this country. Anyhow you see APC is a failure on arrival. A Muslim/Muslim ticket in this country will only work when all Nigerians gets drunk on election day and The CPC and ACN camps are Muslims. sorry.

Now picture is coming out clearer everyday. This guys will roast roches like a chicken sooner than later. He ran to OPC APC the Yoruba and boko haram party thinking that they will give him at worst VP now they are not even considering him for any post whatsoever, they are advicing him to remain in his imo state to return the state to boko haram. grin grin grin grin

The chicken is quietly coming home to roast. Tinubu and Buhari just wanted to use him for their selfish ends, still the mugu could not read the hand writing on the wall. By the time the chips are down, roches will be a homeless and an outcast.. grin grin

They are searching for VP nominee instead of searching for Presidential nominee and allowing the presidential candidate to choose his VP as it is done?

I hope this is a lie, because if this is how APC wants to conduct its business then they are a dead party!!!!!

What nonsense and I hope buhari isn't trying to make himself consensus candidate. What is wrong with this country, can't we do anything right? People that should be considered for the presidency are the ones automatically being shoved to vice. Well let's see how it plays out. If I don't like the game then I'm holding my vote.

Your comment above is speaks volume about you. It's ok to grant a nod to Oshimole and Fashola but when it comes down to Imo, you ask "what has he done"? Some governors are not like that of others where they trumpet everything they do. Lagos and Imo have their different complexities, so for you to say he needs to first bring out IMO from ashes is not ONLY insulting but very demeaning and undermines the work (even if meager) that he has done.

You will do well to explain this in bold, who's been threatening blackmailing who?

Fashola, Oshiomhole both have demonstrated their capacity to manage complex societies and bring about positive change even in the face of threats, blackmail, and despair and have done so courageously.

Ribadu for president
Fashola for vice
Ngige for senate president
Oshiomhole for speaker
The deputy senate president and deputy speaker should come from the other geopolitical zones

This is the winning formular for APC, I hope they'll take my advice.

I am not really bothered about the power sharing formula of the APC.
All i want is another viable party that can stand head to head and match the super power of the present PDP. So that when an administration fail to perform, we can turn our focus to another party for deliverance. And won't continue to wander in the same wilderness of mediocrity.
When the Americans were experiencing the great depression under the administration of Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Clark Hoover all Republicans in the year 1929 to early 1940s, the americans had to go for the next party for salvation in the Democrats presenting Franklin Delano Roosevelt. And it worked.
We don't need being stereotyped and glued to a party, this is democracy for goodness sake.
But the problem with nigerian politics is the same people keep on crossing carpets and changing party.

Okorocha will never rule this country and you will find out if you do your home work,,properly. Soludo will take power when Goodluck leaves office. The north are on their own. The middlebelt will align with ss/se and part of the sw will also join while the north stands on its own.

That is the way alll Nigerians feel about the Ibo. The ibo man does not know how to humble himself and woo others.Rather is boastful and arrogant.Last week we heard how Abokis control oil blocks.See how long they hid it if it is true. The Ibo man would shout from the roof tops about how that is proof of his superior business acumen and it is of course on merit.. Ibo men tell others we are the best this best that ,Nigerians are fed up to the back teeth of that.Sadly you guys do NOT get it and so just continue.
Of all the major ethnic groups you are the ones persisting with this MASSOB thing ,you need to make up your mind.

The world will not change for the Ibo man the Ibo man must change for the world to deal with the Nigerian reality as it really is and not how he imagines it is or should be .Until then keep dreaming

The rate at which some Nigerians are miopic and talk about an Igbo man not being President of Nigeria is shocking.

To be honest, I wish this detestation of the Igbos will drive away poverty, build roads, hospitals and improve our quality of education. The reality is it has not!

Please when speaking about Nigerian politics, speak of it in terms of the character of the candidate in question and not their tribe.

APC will do well to leave its Presidential candidacy open for the best among them to contest. And let their delegates vote for who they consider the best to fly the flag. If they engage in the silly horse trading seen in PDP they will surely fail. You can not play that kind of politics in opposition! If they invent a default candidate and hand the flag to Buhari they will also fail.

In an ideal world I will not normally vote for Fashola because I do not agree with some of his economic/tax policies or his views on the size of Government, or the fact that he seems to be a control freak! (I personally think the level of spending in Lagos and its impact on the deficit in the state will only be know when Fashola leaves office). But I think if APC are smart he Fashola will emerge the ideal candidate to dislodge PDP. A Presidential candiate Fashola with a Northern Christain from Middle belt will surely dislodge PDP. But that said the selection of Fashola or any other Presidential candidate for APC needs to go through a thoruough democratic and due process if they are to have any chance.

Like someone mentioned earlier. Nigeria is in desperate need of an alternative party that can present an alternative choice against PDP. It is about time we start debating the future of our country along the lines of left vs right, liberal vs conservative, socialists vs capitalist and so on!!!!!

I think after 53years of Nationhood and politics of tribe and what tribe we can vote for and what tribe we cant vote for. I think it is time to try something new! We are clearly not making progress!!

Total 19 states out of 36 Winner.

Let the 98% votes do their thing.

Buhari has lost 2 Presidential election, APC will be dumb to make him the flag bearer! I dont see that happening when Tinubu is there. He is too smart to allow that Buhari nonsense.

Jonathan need middle belt to win the election. So it will be smart for APC to pick a vice from there to split the PDP vote there.

Buhari candidacy will guarantee another 4years for PDP and it will be unfortunate should this happen!

Perhaps you didn't read me right. I did not ask that Rochas should go for the Vice President position. My suggestion is that CPC should give him the nod for as Presidential Candidate. That is the only way they can pull the rug off the incumbent's feet. And since the Vice Presidency is the power house of government by your estimation, that position should be reserved for the Northern candidate. Fashola and Oshimole should go to the senate to help strengthen the legislative arm of government. That is where their input is required for now.

I think Rochas/Ribadu ticket is more like it. They both bring fiery developmental passion and vision to the table. Exactly what Nigeria need. And Nigerians will certainly warm up to it.

Last election Buhari picked 13 states.

Buhari alone without incumbency and money already guarantees 13 states No single individual in Nigeria has that appeal. All he need is 6 more states

Even if Jonathan wins all the SS 6 states, SE 5 states total 11 states he cant win election and

Buhari has NW 7 states, NE 6 states thats 13 states already.

Middle Belt which states would go to Jonathan? Definitely not Niger States. And I think Buhari is very strong in states like Nasarawa, can do better in Kogi and Kwara

Assuming for the sake of argument Jonathan wins All SE, SS and 5 states in middle belt he would still Lose.

Buhari just need those 6 SW states to get to 19 states that is needed
