Yes,we have wasted money on religion and other irrelevant frivolities.
I disagree with you on your argument against spending money on roads.
These are basic infrastructures and we cannot afford to neglect them.
The developed countries already have the basic infrastructures,so they can afford to spend huge sum of money on scientific research.
We need to be able to do both at the same time,by cutting out unnecessary waste.
