Cardinals have elected a new Pope as white smoke rose from the Sistine Chimney.The name of the new Pope to be announced shortly.The decision happened after the 5th balllot cast since the conclave began on Tuesday.The new Pope will dress in his new robes and could make his first appearance within an hour.Seventy seven votes were required to confirm a new Pontiff to step into his shoes left empty by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
