Sunshine Stars pip Rangers to return to winning ways The Akure Gunners strove hard before beating the Flying Antelopes while Gombe United got another impressive home win By Kolade Oni Aug 23, 2014 22:52:00 SUNSHINE STARS 2-1 ENUGU RANGERS The Akure Gunners returned to winning ways at home to the Flying Antelopes on Saturday evening but the away team would be critical of the centre referee Abdullahi Shuaibu from Katsina Statewho consented to the call from one of the two assistant referees and ruled that the goal they scored that would have ensured the game ended in a draw was not a good goal Rangers scored first through Samuel Agba in the third minute before a wonderful goal from Solomon Kwambe in the 45 th minute leveled proceedings in the first half. Shina Adeoye got his first goal for the Akure Gunners and the second goal of the match in the 67 th minute. Rangers did get the second goal in the 73 rd minute but one of the assistant referees raised the flag for an infringement when it was actually a good goal. With the win, Sunshine moved to 37 points from 25 matches while Rangers are still on 31 points from same number of games. GOMBE UNITED 2-0 CROWN FC The Desert Scorpions defeated the Ajilete Boys with Timothy Simon and Ibrahim Abdullahi on the scoresheet for the home team. Gombe United under head coach, Austin Eguavoen have been experiencing a turnaround and it was no special deal for the club to secure maximum points against Crown FC at the Pantami Stadium. The Desert Scorpions are out of are relegation zone momentarily again with 32 points from 25 games while Crown are closing in on a return to the lower league with only 23 points from 25 matches thus far. DOLPHINS 0-0 SHARKS The Port Harcourt derby ended goalless just like it was during the first stanza. It has done both clubs no good in their bid to move up on the league table. Dolphins are on 39 points from 25 games while Sharks are on 35 points from as many matches. It was a tie that lived up to its billing and both teams would be contented with securing a draw that would assist their stay in the elite division. Sharks have been blowing both cold and hot this season and the gained draw is a sign of progress for the club who are yet to get another away point for some time now. Dolphins are on a roller coaster and will be hard done not to have recorded a win. They are still second with 39 points from 25 games but situation might change when sunday matches are decided. KANO PILLARS 1-0 ABIA WARRIORS The Sai Masu Gida squeezed through on a lone goal victory over the Abia warriors and the team from Kano where victorious to the delight of all and sundry. They defeated Abia Warriors by a lone goal and also must continue in that routine if they are get aware draw. Pillars are still first with 43 points from 25 matches while others are chasing them to ensure that the Kano side do not get a third straight title. They are yet to be beaten at home since 2003. |

Ok me have an idea to create more awareness. Before every match week, a thread would be created to highlight all the fixtures across the country. After each matchday, another thread to post the results and reviews of each game alongside with stats, league table, etc.. Maintain an independent thread for our fav club and update it while this thread would act as a meeting point to discuss general issues.. Create interesting topics like: Top ten NPFL Club stadium, Top ten popular clubs based on social media followership... Etc... With honeric01 there, the threads we find ok can be nominated to FP to draw NLers... So guys u can drop suggestions and pick which u can maintain.. 2 Likes |

The Giwa-led NFF has suspended LMC and set up a 6-man led committee to take over the league. _Shit just got messier. Whereas FIFA has warned Giwa to step down and stop parading himself else Nigeria faces a ban. The fate of our league is hanging on a thread... |
