The Peoples Democratic Party in the Southwest of Nigeria has begun fresh moves to unseat Rep Aminu Tambuwal and claim the speakership of the House of Representatives, reports The Nation. The party’s leaders in the zone want the House speakership as well as the position of national secretary of the party restored to the zone to redress what it calls undue marginalisation in the country’s leadership structure and make the party sellable to the people of the zone in 2015.

The party leaders made their position known to the party’s national chairman Bamanga Tukur at a meeting in Ibadan, telling him that unless the speaker’s position is returned to the Southwest, the cry of marginalisation by the people of the region will not stop. The House speakership was zoned to the Southwest in 2007 but at inauguration the zone fielded more than one candidate, making it easy for the House members to rebel against the party’s leadership by endorsing a candidate from the North.

It was never a mistake to the good people of SouthWest. PDP has been a disease to the SW and there were needs to kick the party out of the zone and also to weaken them from unexpected resurection, which made it esential for the SW to resist anyone from the zone who bids for the post of honourable speaker. The PDP guys you see clamouring for the removal of Tambuwal for them to take his post are doing this for their own pocket and never for the betterment of their Zone.

Which they will once again fail

How do you expect south west to get the speakership with just 5 member in PDP from that zone, beside what have they achieve when a south west son Dimeji Bankole was speaker.

The problem of the South West is due to the politics for the soul of the south west.
