I recently realised there are actually quite a few achievements that can can be considered quintessentially Kenyan: the success of mpesa,our mobile money transfer service,our dairy industry which now outstrips S African production,our electrical power generation which increased from around 1000 MW in 2003 to 1500 MW in 10 years and the ushahidi software specially developed for crowd sourcing.

Kenya has overtaken S.Africa which produces a total average of 230 mn litres monthly. Currently the 3 largest producers KCC,Brookside and Fresha have captured the local market and are expanding rapidly in the COMESA zone and beyond searching for markets.
