Why Is Easter Not Really Celebrated Like Christmas? by greatgod2012(f): 3:56am On Mar 31, 2013
Happy Easter to all and sundry.

I have been observing this from my childhood that christmas celebration has always been merrier than Easter celebration.
During Chrismas, we all hear about new cloth line, new shoe lines, hampers, chrismas wishes here and there, children going for santa claus' visits, and other interesting and joyful activities. However, the Easter celebration is not as interesting as that of Chrismas, hardly do kids know what exact we are given break for at our place of work, its less celebrated and interesting in all sense of it, and im bothered on how and why this is so, because, i think Easter should be a very important holiday and festival in the lives of every christian..........so, please, educate me, why Easter is not really celebrated like Christmas.
Thanks you all and happy Easter once again.

Simple answer: christmas has been commercialised, the stuff we call "celebrating christmas" today would have caused the earlier xtians to "fear, fear". We have turn it into a day for chicken, drinks and new clothes, d spiritual significance is almost forgotten!
On d otherhand easter's commercialisation is reduced. I think it is time we decide if we want to celebrate the birth of christ and/or resurrection or we are seeking an opportunity to over eat.

I agree with the poster above me. It has been commercialised and in addition, since Christmas comes during the end of the year when most people will want to go on holiday, it is easier to make a huge deal of it than Easter that falls withing the work year

Celebration of Xmas join with New year celebration and that make it more elaborate and make the season last like two weeks altogether

[size=13pt]Actually, this is the main reason, besides it's a longer break, it runs till the new year.

Xmas commermorates d birth of Christ, which majority of us celebrates our own birthday, how much more Chrst's birthday. While easter signifies d death n ressurection of our Lord Jesus Christ- which is nt a time 4 merriment, its a time 2 retreat back 2 Christ 4 a wonderful prize he paid 4d redemption of mankind

Christmas has been heavily commercialized and its spiritual aura watered down unlike Easter that is uniquely Christian
The bulk of retail sales especially in the Occidental part of the world take place during this time
Anyone heard of Black Friday? shocked shocked
What is black to mark a period that leaves most people accounts in the red after the Christmas season? grin grin
Also, because its so near the end of the year, many revellers got sucked into the festivities
So while a Christian is marking the birth of Christ, too many are celebrating Santa Claus sad sad shocked

Well in my opinion, it might be the closeness of Christmas to the new year celebrations.
Easter is actually the most important holiday in the christian almanac.

Without Christmas there wont be Easter. Hence Christmas is for merriment.
Notice the greeting of the period says: Merry Christmas!

Divine Birth+Spotless life+Guiltless death= Resurrection and the ultimate Confirmation of the CHRIST-HOOD of JESUS.

Easter is more of a period of sober reflection considering the torture and torment JESUS CHRIST went through for our sake.

HAPPY EASTER, everyone!

You don't celebrate when someone die, especially when not at a good old age. On the other hand, Christ is not dead, He arose again. I've got to celebrate, that's the pillar of our Christian faith. I worship the slain lamb, I adore the risen lion of tribe of Judah. Glory to God!
