Mutious troop led by an army major Gen. Isa Lawal has captured the Nigerian seat of power on sunday night leaving scores of civillians and military officers dead.
The Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan and few of his aides were reported to have been whisked away from the presidential villa in a military helicopter amid heavy gunfire after mutinous soldiers in armoured vehicles attacked the seat of power Aso-Rock.
Some state governors,ministers and national assembly members were said to have been taken on hostage by the new military government in Nigeria.
