Koolking:

I never knew MJ was not the creator of MW. Who created Moon Walk? Azonto and Ghana is not an urban legend. You know, I know and Nigerians who care to know, know Azonto originated from Ghana, Nigerians spiced it up. That does not still worth the credit to Nigerians. Azonto is Ghana and vice versa. We Nigerians are imperialists

Cab Calloway and Bill Bailey invented the Moonwalk in 1932 and 1955. Michael Jackson saw the Moonwalk on Soul Train and perfected it, later using it as his signature dance move. Now everybody thinks micheal jackson is the originator of the moonwalk...Take note: it became popular around the world after Michael Jackson executed the dance move during a performance of "Billie Jean" on Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever on March 25, 1983

That is what is happening in the azonto case...Chris brown was taught azonto by wizkid and nigerians perfected the dance steps and renamed it alingo...

Whether azonto is urban legend or not is not the issue...the issue here is that nigerians are the ones that made azonto known to the world and perfected it just like what micheal jackson did to the moon walk...

So anybody blaming nigerians should go and blame micheal jackson, pdiddy(he has a record for using other peoples past songs to made his hits)and co first for stealing a move or song belonging to someone else

No be chris brown or anybody fault...no hard feelings bro

Better version? Are you not ashamed that our fellow Nigerians -PSquare had to steal something from a neigbhouring country, and then turned around to call it another name?
It looks minor but it shows the depth of dubious tendencies and cheating/stealing in us as a people.

It is shameful howv we celebrate stealing and other disgraceful acts in this Nigeria.

How did Nigeria promote Azonto? Deceiving ourselves for nothing

B4 the coming of the World acclaimed NOLLYWORD to Ghana, the country was best known as an Entertainment Wasteland. NOLLYWOOD Talents had to educate and teach them what entertainment was.

In those days of real Entertainment Blackouts in Ghana, to be entertained or watch a performance by any artist, it was usually in these types of ceremonies-

1. During naming or burial ceremonies.

2. At their annual cultural gathering.etc.

Producers and Directors from NOLLYWOOD had to Relocate to Ghana before the country was eventually salvaged from centuries of Entertainment Blackout.

The issue is actually a minor one.

But your comment is the type that makes other Africans to dislike Nigerians....stupid arrogance!
Who told you it was Nigeria that made Azonto popular? Nonesense! Azonto has been made popular by Ghanaians and down-to-earth other Africans long before Nigeria joined. Azonto was a hit dance at the BBA in 2011.

Nigeria was even reluctant to accept the Azonto dance (ostensibly because of rivalry with Ghana), but we had to join when almost everybody realised the fun/creativity of the dance and its global acceptance.
Right now, almost all Nigerian musicians are playing Ghana Hiplife / Azonto beats and rhythms.

And to show how arrogant and mischevious we Nigerians are, and not wanting to give credit to others, PSquare stole all the Azonto dance moves and then decided to call it 'Alingo'....in order to hijack the credit..very shameful and disgraceful act.
Anybody can invent or create anything. But when you borrow somebody's idea/creative works, the honourable thing to do is to acknowledge it and move, not to steal it and call it another name like PSquare did....making a mockery of themselves after all their years of good success.

OK Mike but nothing is more dubious than a blatant impersonation... We are smart enough to read thru ur implications as being an impersonator...
If Azonto was already popular, how popular? U can not deny the fact that Nigerian entertainment has a global fan base so if Nigeria adopts Azonto all Naija fans world wide will buy into it and would assume automatically that it's Nigerian because they are a fan of Nigerian entertainment and not of Ghana. U need to chill... Blues, Rap, Acapella, Jazz etc.. are all African but these genres are made popular by African Americans and so the new generation believes these genres are American.. so it is normal. If PSquare made Alingo.. well if u look at the dance step it is not Azonto but anyone would know that it is Azonto inspired but since the dance step is not exactly Azonto and they called it Alingo why should u be mad about that? PSquare knew that if they did exactly azonto they would still make their hit and Ghanaian would still be mad about it just as if PSquare have not been making hits before Azonto and thats why they repackaged it and gave it a different brand. Even if u took such case to court, u can never win cos its not Azonto.. Believing that Nigeria did not make azonto popular is just plain self deceit. U can't blame Chris Brown all he knows about is Nigerian entertainment it is left to u Ghanaian to to make ur entertainment as popular if u can, otherwise U can't but just give it to the trail blazer.

And let me ask u, Has any Nigerian musician actually come out in an interview to categorically state that Azonto is Nigerian? U can not blame it on Nigeria if Naija fans erroneously assume that the dance is Nigerian because Naija sold it to them. U can only blame Nigeria on this kind of thing if u can refer to an interview where a known Nigerian entertainer was asked about the origin of Azonto and replied as that it is Nigerian.. Otherwise this kind of argument will just make u look stupid.

1) Azonto was popular before this CB controversy having had a documentary on the dance on Al Jazeera, BBC and CNN
2) CB knew of it throug Wizzy who taught him it. it was only normal for CB to acknowlegde his teacher
3) Nigerians haven't made it popular or perfected it. like seriously?? thats a very big joke!!
4) Azonto moves well with most Naija tunes so its not rocket science that Naija is helping to promote the dance because of their superior Entertainment Industry
5) if i were a Nigerian i would be rather sad at having to rather debate Ghanaians over ownership/improvement of a dance when there are Nigerian dances that can improved and marketed.
im Ghanaian but listen to Naija music more cos it's more african, rhythmic and waaaay better than that sh!!!t my GH artiste sing. FACT

Nigerians and their lack of thinking, anytime u hear da word GHANA most of u comes from ur caves like headless chickens. Ghanaians don't give a phuck about AZONTO u can take it. Ur country Nigeria is turning into a grave yard and instead of using Nairaland to benefit ur pit latrine country u instead create a thread to instigate hatred. Dumb people wit primitive thinking. grin grin cheesy grin cheesy grin cheesy grin IF CLAIMING AZONTO AS A NIGERIAN DANCE WILL MAKE BOKO HARAM LAY THEIR ARMS AND WILL STOP YOUR POLITICIANS TO STOP LOOTING, THEN WE GHANAIANS WILL HAPPILY GIVE IT TO U CUZ WE PEACE LOVING PEOPLE. grin cheesy grin cheesy

You reek of ignorance. If you knew anything about the Arts, you'd know that all artists/artistes are influenced by existing works. There's the Soul-Blues-RnB link, there's Rock and its myriad variations, etc. Even Ghana's Hiplife is a fusion of HipHop and Highlife. So what the fucck are you talking? If P-Square like, they can name their dance Azuntex, no problem as far as it's got noticeable differences from Azonto. You think the Wilbur brothers were the first to conceive aircraft construction? Nigga wake the feck up and stop yarning dust.
