Toaskarity: Ngeria govt is jst rich thats compare to other african country, that doesnt mean the ppl is rich neither are they happy compare to others countries, talk of influencial thats a dream of the country that never come true! Dont ever compare both countries, a good percent of southafricans eat four times a day unlike in ngeria where a good percent have no bread. Pls stop comparing and let things work out for both countries
how about hiv and in educational level

If you're talking about economics and GDP, then I can't comment on those because I do not know the economic status of either countries. But if you're talking about influence, SA has no chance against NGA. Is it in African Politics, International politics etc, fuel, oil, population, integration into other countries etc. NGA is far more influential. In the world we live in today, Oil and a strong military is power. Power is influence. 90 percent of the influential countries today have crude oil and gas. Someone who as been to the UK even told me that Yoruba and Igbo are well spoken on the streets of Peckham in London. If that is not influence then I don't knw what is.
PS: Some people may want to question where I got my 90percent form. I took a statistic of all the countries in the world. Mschewww.Monfos.

Without sentiment SA in terms of education, economy, standard of living even their president is more recognise than that of naija. Op do u knw the numbers of nigerian citizen schooling in SA, SA just host the last edition of world cup & nations cup respectively, the only place Nigeria is influential at is peace keeping öthers zero. If u put it on a measuring scale SA beats Nigeria hands down.

MissRaissa: Influential on what grounds? Please be specific because the question is too broad. But if we are speaking influence from a "general" point of view, I definitely believe South Africa has more influence.

No white man can influence Africans today. They've looted too much.

Without any unnecessary sentiment i think SA is head and shoulders ahead of Nigeria for now. If our government can put its house in order by providing all the basic amenities we currently lack, and taking a firm and decisive action against the menance of Boko Haram and kidnappers, only then can we become better than SA.
Re: South Africa Vs Nigeria: Which Is More Influential In Africa? by Nobody: 10:24am On Apr 04, 2013
Tolexander: this doesn't make the point at all.
If 1rand =18naira as you said, then
1rand should be equal to 10.0632yen.
Has that made south africa better than Japan?
Moreover, 1rand=17.1205naira
not 18naira.

1Libya dinar = 7.2018rand.
By your 1st assertion, i guess libya should be the best country in africa.

The question stated that which of the 2 countries is influential to africa!
most SA I know are relatively intelligent but y?

In terms of cultural, political, and military influence in africa, Nigeria comes 1st.

I'll give infrastructural and technology development to South Africa.

However, I wonder y africans always bother abt such things.
Canada doesnt compete with US. Neither does France with UK.
Africa unite and grow up.

I believe based on Nigeria's human and natural resources,She is more influential than SA.Most countries would rather want to court Nigeria than SA because of the Liquid black Gold.

Politically: Nigeria's influence was stronger with regard to issues in Libya and The Ivory Coast. However, South Africa still got the AU seat and looks good to get the UN Security Council seat.

Culturally: Nigeria has the performers - Tuface, PSquare, D'Banj, Genevieve, Nollywood, etc, while South Africa has the platform - DSTV. We are also African Champions in football, although we don't have as many world famous footballers as we used to have.

Economically: South African companies such as MTN, Multichoice/DSTV, South African Breweries, Shoprite, etc have a strong reach across the continent, while Nigerian brands (Glo, Zenith Bank, Oando) are still coming up.

$£yi:

Reading this for the first time- "country's currency value determines it economical strength". Wow!

What position is the UK that has the most valuable currency? Sixth or thereabout while China with a very ridiculous currency in term of value is second.
Was in Ghana some years back when the country's currency was re-decimalized and named "Ghana-cedi" from ordinary "cedi". A ghana-cedi was equivalent to N92(Nigeria's Naira), till today and in the next decades Ghana's economy can't reach half of Nigerias'.

I term that ignorance to rate economy on currency value.
Was there too, when groundnut is being sold for 1,000 cedi..
Imagine you buy groundnut with 1,000 naira here in naija,I bet na sure krokror.

Your nuances are unAfrican. Please read Chinua Achebe as President Obama did. It makes 21st century sense.
