Lately there has been a barrage of support, voices and clamour from mostly leaders of Northern Nigeria, the hot-bed of the BokoHaram menace for the federal government to grant amnesty to the BokoHaram Sect.
We, the southerners especially the Igbo tribe have largely been the recipients and victims of the BokoHaram scourge, inspite of these damning facts, southerners have wildly thrown their voices against any move or plan to give AMNESTY to BokoHaram-especially in the way it is being set up with cash gifts- as a way to solving the problem of terrorism.
While the media for reasons best known to it, has mostly concentrated on Muslims and northern leaders that have openly called for the federal government to grant BokoHaram Amnesty, thesame media attention and light have not been given to other groups from the northern region-both islamic and Christian groups alike that are vehemently against such a plan.
Recently ahead of the committee on Amnesty for BokoHaram members by JEG, an Islamic group, "Muslims against Terror", warned that granting such Amnesty would plunge the country into more security crisis.
The group further questioned the rationality behind the Amnesty by asking;
“Boko Haram (members) themselves do not ask for amnesty, because they know that this is haram. So who is asking?”

The group wondered, adding that it was sure those asking had a lot to hide just like the president trying to force the amnesty down the throats of the members who have rejected it.
They further questioned the BOKOHARAM claims of following islamic tenets;
“Who and what holy book gave them the right to shoot at and toss bombs at people playing cards? Is this the law of Shariah that people playing cards or drinking alcohol should be killed?"
Just to take a quote from another northern group, against Amnesty for BokoHaram, the Northern Christian Forum:
“Boko Haram has tried to annihilate us and our Igbo
Christian brothers and now the government is talking
about granting them amnesty without saying a word
about the people they bombed, slaughtered and
traumatized"
“Who underdeveloped the Muslim North?
It is definitely not the Jonathan government, and neither is it the Christians in the North! It is the
Northern Muslim elite that impoverished the Northern
Muslim youth"

It's quite unfortunate that these voices of reasoning apparently seem to have been drowned by the unpatriotic and insensitive blaring voices of the northern elitist groups in support of amnesty for supporters.
We need more northern voices speaking against these killers and their supporters, so it does not look like every northerner or muslim is a bokoharam sympathizer and supporter.

I agree entirely with your post, the Fed govt would be rewarding criminality if it goes ahead with this proposal.

It would not be the first time FG will be indulging criminals, we saw the whole Alams saga unfurl right before our eyes, Boko Haram will be no different!

If the FG grant Boko Haram this stupid amnesty of a thing, they've vehemently made it clear that crime really does pay in the Federal Republic Of Nigeria!.
