Chelsea have been hit by rumours that one of their players' WAG had an affair with another member of the squad. According to Belgian magazine 'Story', Kevin De Bruyne left his girlfriend Caroline after she had an affair with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Both De Bruyne and Courtois are Chelsea players, but perhaps luckily for the club at this point in time, are also both currently out on loan. The 21-year-old De Bruyne, a £7 million signing from Genk in January 2012 is currently with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, while 20-year-old Courtois was immediately loaned out to Atletico Madrid after also being signed from Genk the previous year. De Bruyne and Courtois are team-mates in the Belgian national team as well as both having been at Genk at the same time. According to 'Story', while De Bruyne was away at a Bremen training camp in Turkey in January, Caroline went to Madrid to visit Courtois. Weeks later De Bruyne heard about the alleged affair and as a result Caroline moved out of their apartment and back to Belgium. De Bruyne was given two days off Werder Bremen training in early March for "private matters" which are believed to be related to the affair. He has since deleted all photographs of Caroline he previously had on his Twitter account. A source told the magazine: "In the Madrid house she cheated on Kevin. He didn't know anything, but when he discovered about it, he went crazy. It was a huge shock for him." German newspaper Bild, which published details of 'Story's' original piece, tried to contact De Bruyne but were told he did not wish to comment on the issue by his advisor Patrick De Koster. The story echoes the scandal that emerged in 2010 when it was alleged that John Terry had conducted an extra-marital affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the mother of former Chelsea team-mate Wayne Bridge's child. Bridge quit the England team over the rumours and famously snubbed Terry during a pre-match handshake while playing for Manchester City. However, Stefan Van Loock, the press officer for the Belgian FA, said any problems between De Bruyne and Courtois have been ironed out. "We don't deny that there have been private problems between Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne," he said. "But I've talked to both of them and they both confirm this case is closed for them. They have finished the quarrel. The guys talk again to each other and they even make jokes again. "It's true the national manager has talked to both of them about the case. But it never has had any impact on the Belgian national team.
