SHINE BEFORE ENEMIES

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,”
(Matthew 2: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus was born, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem because they saw His star and wanted to pay Him homage. So Jesus’ star was seen beyond Jerusalem. Jesus’ star was seen in the ‘east’. The 'east' referred to the area where you have Babylon and Palestine. Those nations were considered as enemies of God in Bible times. Jesus’ star shone in the territory of God’s enemies.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will shine in the midst of your enemies. You will shine in the midst of those who hate you. You will shine in the midst of those whose stock in trade is to gossip about you; you will shine in the midst of those who don’t like you and your face; you will shine in the midst of those who work against you; you will shine despite the presence of enemies.

People in the east were enemies, but the star didn't take permission from them to shine. God says, your stardom does not depend on those who hate you. Those who hate you can keep hating, but their hate won't stop your shining. Your shining doesn't need their permission; your greatness doesn't need their approval; your next level is not at their discretion.

Any hater who wants to stop you from shining will have to wait forever; the more they wait, the more your shining increases. The more they gossip against you, the more God continues to lift you higher and higher. The more they hate to see your star, the more your star will shine brighter and brighter in their faces.

Don’t be afraid enemies who don’t like to see you shine. You will keep shining despite their presence. Your shining will not stop because of haters.

VISION AND DIRECTION

“1. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea...there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star...”

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the wise men saw the star that heralded Jesus’ birth, they came to Jerusalem in search of the new king. Their eyes were opened to see Jesus’ star; they had insight into divine information. They had a vision about Jesus’ birth, and that vision drove them into going to Jerusalem.

Though the wise men saw correctly concerning Jesus’ star, they were not correct about His location. They came to Jerusalem to search for Him when He was in Bethlehem of Judah. They saw the star but couldn’t tell of the location of the new king; they had a vision about Jesus’ birth but had no direction.

Friend, for every vision God gives you, ask for direction. When God gives you a vision of where you should go, ask for directions on how to get there. When God shows you the greatness you should attain, ask Him to show you how to get there. Ask God to show you how to accomplish the visions you've conceived; ask God to show you the way to your desired accomplishments.

A vision without direction is an illusion that will cause a disillusion. If you are ignorant about the right direction that leads to the fulfillment of your vision, you may end up in a rigmarole movement that will confuse you and waste your time. No matter what God has planted in your heart, you need to know how to get there, otherwise you may never even get there.

Vision may be the starting point of your race, but direction is the track that will take you to the finishing line. Ask God to open your eyes to see both the right visions and right directions.

Prayer: Lord, for every vision You have planted or will plant in my heart, I ask for direction, in Jesus’ name!Amen

HELPED BY HEROD

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the wise men saw Jesus’ star, they came to Herod in search of the new born King. They came to someone who was actually an enemy in search of important information. They came to someone who was actually Jesus’ hater in search of information on how to locate Jesus.

Herod was a hater, but he summoned the chief priests and scribes and demanded information about Jesus' birth place. He was a hater, but he gathered useful information that was needed by the wise men. He was sad about Jesus’ birth, but he became a servant that provided information to the wise men.

Friend, God says, the Herod’s of this world will be servants in your destiny. Your haters are about to become your destiny informants. Those who prefer to work against you will soon become agents that will give you strategic information that will take you higher. The wicked men around you will turn to destiny helpers, bringing positive information that will open doors for you.

Herod may have had negative intentions when he sourced for information about Jesus’ birth place, but he worked as a servant all the same. Some haters may not be aware that their activities are about to open doors for you, but God says, they won't stop until the doors are open. Some haters will ignorantly open doors for you to enter your next level.

Don’t lose sleep whenever you discover that what you need is in the hands of a ‘Herod’. If Jehovah is involved, the ‘Herods’ and haters of this world will be servants, working for your next level.

Prayer : Lord, command the ‘Herods’ of this world to work for my good, in Jesus’ name!Amen

DIVINE REVELATION

“2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled...”
(Matthew 2: 2, 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the wise men saw the star that heralded Jesus’ birth, they went to Jerusalem and met Herod. Wisdom helped them to discern Jesus' birth; wisdom opened their eyes to a reality that was hidden to other people; wisdom helped them understand the time. Their wisdom discerned the present.

Herod later plotted to kill Jesus; but God revealed the evil plot to the wise men, and after visiting Jesus, they didn’t go back to Herod. When they first went to Herod, they had no idea that there was a future evil plot, but God revealed it to them. Wisdom discerned the present, but divine revelation unveiled the future.

Friend, wisdom may discern the present, but only divine revelation will unveil the future. Divine revelation will show you the things that are yet to come into being. Divine revelation will show you the opportunities that will become profitable and rewarding in the future, and will also show you the ones to run away from. Divine revelation will teach you what wisdom will not teach. Divine revelation will show you the future.

If you live your life entirely on the basis of wisdom, you might become a victim of the changing times and seasons. If you lack divine revelation, you might start off a journey that looks profitable and positive, but you might be caught in an unexpected change that will make a mess of your efforts, time and resources.

Wisdom is good enough but it is not enough; divine revelation is the way to go. Ask God to open your eyes to see the future; ask God to reveal and unveil the future.

NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

“When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”
(Matthew 2: 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Herod was troubled and all Jerusalem got troubled too. Herod was troubled that a new king had been born, and he got troubled to the extent that the entire city went into frenzy. Herod heard good news, but because he misunderstood the matter, he was troubled and the trouble multiplied in the city. What troubled Herod was multiplied.

Friend, God says, whatever troubles you has the capacity to multiply. If you allow worries to persist in your mind, it will multiply. If you allow a negative emotion to persist in you, it will multiply and become bigger than you ever imagined.

If you allow bitterness to persist, be careful, it will multiply; if you allow hate to persist in your mind, it will grow in leaps and bounds; if you allow anger to persist, it will increase and multiply. Any negativity you allow in your life has the capacity to multiply.

Herod opened the door of his mind to negative thoughts, and the entire city soon got infected with the same negative thoughts. Be careful how you allow negative thoughts to persist in you; the more you communicate it, the more you infect people around you. Whatever unsettles your mind has the capacity to multiply and unsettle the minds of people around you. Whatever negativity you practice has the capacity to become the practice of people connected to you.

Discard every negativity in you. Discard negative emotions and negative habits; don’t allow negativity to persist in your mind; don’t allow ill feelings to grow in you; put away anything in you that is not positive or worth retaining. Even if you have worries or struggles, don’t transmit them to people around you.

Prayer: Lord, I discard every negative emotion in Jesus’ name!Amen

KEEP MOVING

“...lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.”

The star of Jesus moved until it came and stood where Jesus was. The star was not static; it was a moving star. It was not a stagnant star; it was a star that made movements; it was a star that did not remain in the same position; it was a star that was in motion and kept moving.

Friend, God says, after you become a star, keep moving. Be a moving star; be a star that isn't stagnated; be a star that keeps improving; be a star that gets better and better; be a dynamic star; be a star that won't be at the same spot and same level from day to day and from year to year. Be a star that shines brighter and brighter each passing day.

If Jesus’ star kept moving, then you have no business being stagnant. Jesus’ example is one that has no business with stagnation. If you are stagnant in your work, you are not following Jesus’ example. If you remain on the same level, you are missing the mark.

If people cannot see anything new in you as you grow older, you are walking in stagnation. If where you were yesterday is same as where you are today, stagnation is at your doorstep.

Even when your physical location has not changed, something in you should be seen to change. Your skills should be seen to improve; your competence and dedication should be seen to increase; your relevance should be seen to grow. Even when you are confined in your environment, manifest a new thing.

The movement of Jesus’ star was not hidden. People saw the star moving. If indeed you are moving, your movement should be recognizable. Keep moving; even when you make progress, keep moving; no matter what you attain, keep moving.

Prayer : Lord, I must keep moving, in Jesus’ name!Amen

A CELEBRATED STAR

“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.” (Matthew 2: 9)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Jesus’ star didn’t appear in Jerusalem where Herod was. It appeared to the wise men who followed it until they came to where Jesus was. Herod was unhappy about the birth of a new King; he was not about to celebrate Jesus.

The wise men were interested in Jesus and came with gifts to celebrate Him. So the star did not appear where it would not be celebrated; it appeared where it would be celebrated.

Friend, God says, your star will appear where you will be celebrated. Your star will appear to people who would value you and treat you according to your worth. The star in you will be recognized by people who will respect and honour you and give you what you deserve. Men will recognize your abilities and give you massive rewards. Men will see your true worth and place you where you deserve. God will unveil your star to the right people.

God will open the eyes of the right people to see the star in you and treat you with honour and splendor. You may not know how to tell everyone that you are a star, but God will tell those who need to know so that they can recognize and place you where you belong.

Some haters will never recognize your star no matter how brightly you shine. Your haters may even outnumber your cheer leaders. If they are unwilling to see and celebrate the star in you, move on, there are people who are willing to recognize and celebrate you. Jesus’ star refused to appear to Herod, so don't appear before haters who don’t value you.

Know who you are. Know what you want. Know what you are worth. Don’t accept anything less. You are the best.

SEE FROM THE FUTURE

“...the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.”

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The wise men saw Jesus’ star before they saw Jesus. They saw stardom before they came in contact with the baby Jesus. The star told them that a king had been born. They connected to the Kingly personality of Jesus before connecting to His mortality. They connected to His majesty before meeting Him in His cradle.

Jesus’ Kingship was for future manifestation. His Kingship was a future matter. Others saw Jesus as a baby, from His present form, but the wise men saw Him through the eyes of the future before seeing the baby in Him. Others saw Jesus from the present to the future; the wise men saw Him from the future to the present.

Friend, see yourself through the eyes of the future. See yourself through the eyes of the greatness you will attain in 2016. See yourself through the binoculars of who you are yet to become, not who you are at the moment. See yourself through the eyes of your future achievements and accomplishments; see yourself through the eyes of your next level; see yourself through the eyes of tomorrow.

God Himself sees you through the eyes of mercy, and sees you, not as what you were or what you are, but who you will be. When you see yourself through the eyes of the future, there are things you would not get yourself involved in, for the sake of where you are going to. When men see you from the future to the present, they will treat you and speak to you based on where you are going to, not based on where you are.

It’s okay to remember where you used to be, and where you are at the moment; be grateful to God for where you are now and how far God has led you, but focus more on the future.

EXCEEDING EXPANSION

“And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture tells the tale of when Prophet Samuel announced Saul as the new king of Israel. Saul went out in search of his father’s lost asses, he went to achieve something for his father, but in a twist of fate, he ran into Prophet Samuel who announced God's word to Him. Samuel began as one who was seeking for lost asses, but he ended that day as king of Israel. Samuel experienced what could best be described as an Exceeding Expansion.

Friend, welcome to 2016. This is your year of Exceeding Expansion. You will move from wandering to possession; you will move from little to plenty; you will move from nothing to something; you will move from rejection to celebration; you will move from being denied to being given plenty; you will transit from obscurity to undeniable visibility; whatever God has put into your hands shall witness an exceeding expansion.

People were not there when Saul's kingship was announced, but they later saw that he had become king. His exceeding expansion was seen by all. God says, your Exceeding Expansion shall appear to all; it won't be hidden; it will be too obvious and too remarkable to be ignored.

You shall expand on all sides. You shall increase in your family, marriage, ministry, career, business, finances, relevance, etc. Your exceeding expansion will exceed all expectations.

Isaiah 54 vs. 3 sums it up: “For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”

Prayer : Lord, in 2016, I shall have Exceeding Expansion on all sides, in Jesus’ name!Amen

LIFTED BY THE WORD

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Saul's elevation as King of Israel happened when Prophet Samuel showed him God's word. The showing of God’s word was the manifestation of the kingship God ordained for Saul. Saul’s contact with God’s word led to his Exceeding Expansion; Saul was shown God’s word, and then he was shown as king to his generation.

Friend, if God can show you His word, then He will show you to your generation. Your Exceeding Expansion is tied on God’s word. God’s word is the foundation for receiving more than you ask for. God’s word is the bedrock of whatever you will achieve this year. God’s word will attract your portion. God’s word is your comparative advantage. God’s word is the strategy for a year of Exceeding Expansion.

God’s word made arrangements for Saul’s elevation. As you hear, read, meditate on, and confess God’s word, it will raise you and set you on a high mountain, and open multiple doors for you; God’s word will make the impossible to become possible; God’s word will make your destiny impregnable and unconquerable; God’s word is the ladder you will climb to go higher.

Live in line with God’s word this year. Dare to obey God’s word to in all you do. Keep speaking the Word; keep living by the Word. Let the Word be on your lips always.

Saul didn't contest for the position of King of Israel, but God’s word brought it to him. God’s word will bring you things you may not be able to fight for. Others may go for it, but God’s word will bring it to you. Cling to God’s word and it will bring you Exceeding Expansion.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to cling to Your word; may it bring me Exceeding Expansion, in Jesus’ name!Amen

CHOSEN BY GRACE

“...Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Prior to Saul’s emergence as King, there was no royal family where kings were expected to emerge from. There was no history or established procedure on how a king could be chosen. There was even no vacancy. So when God decided to give Israel a king, there were lots of people who could be chosen.

Saul did not fight for the position of King, but it came to him. He didn't make efforts in that regard, but he got a resounding result. He may not have been the most qualified, he may have come from the least tribe of Israel, but that didn't stop God from choosing him and making him the first King of Israel.

Friend, you may not have made arrangements for your Exceeding Expansion, you may not be among those who should be considered for increase, you may not be in a position to fight for positions you desire, but God will choose you and position you for Exceeding Expansion that will come by grace.

This year, you will be chosen by grace. Grace shall speak for you as you pursue your dreams and aspirations. Grace will speak for you in your career, business, ministry, etc. Grace will cause you to be chosen ahead of your contemporaries. Grace will cause you to be preferred above others. Grace will distinguish you with great distinctions. Grace will place you where you truly belong in this year.

There are things you may not be able to do for yourself, there are things that people may not readily be willing to do for you, but grace will make it happen.

John 1 vs. 16 says: “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”

Prayer : Lord, in this year, may grace take me into my Exceeding Expansion, in Jesus’ name!Amen

NOT BY DISADVANTAGES

“...but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotionals today.

Saul was born in the lineage of Benjamin, the last son of Jacob; Benjamin was the least tribe of Israel. If there was a contest for the position of King, someone from the least tribe would probably be disadvantaged, and would probably not be chosen. Some people would have been better placed.

Despite being from the least tribe of Israel, God chose Saul to be the first king of Israel. Saul was disadvantaged by no fault of his own, but it didn’t matter anyway: God still chose him. Something that should disqualify him didn’t disqualify him; the things that should work against him didn't work against him; he became what God wanted him to be despite his disadvantaged position.

Friend, God says, as you operate by His word, you shall be chosen despite the things that are not in your favour; you will rise despite your disadvantages; you will make progress despite the hurdles threatening your progress; you will ascend to higher levels despite the difficulties you didn't bring on yourself. Your background may not be the best, but God says, it won’t stop you.

When God chooses a man, his disadvantages become a nullity; when God takes you to the top, nothing and no man can use your disadvantages against you; when God empowers you to advance, your disadvantages become immaterial. God says, this year, your disadvantages won’t count.

Focus on God and forget the disadvantages you can't change. God is committed to your exceeding expansion, and when He arises, your disadvantages will go into hiding.

Job 22 vs. 30 says: “He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.”

Prayer : Lord, in this year, my disadvantages won’t count against me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

MAJESTIC MANIFESTATIONS

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the word of the Lord concerning Saul was unveiled, he became the King of Israel. Saul’s expansion took him from his father’s house and took him to the throne; it was an Exceeding Expansion that changed his position and gave him a kingdom to rule over; it was an Exceeding Expansion that came with Majestic Manifestations.

Friend, in 2016, you shall walk in Majestic Manifestations. You shall step into higher positions; you'll sit on your throne and reign in your kingdom; you'll step into a higher level of influence; you will rise from your setbacks and step into supernatural breakthroughs; God will take you from where you are now to where He wants you to be. God will carve out positions for you.

When Saul became King, his contemporaries became his subjects. God will cause a shift, and people who rub shoulders with you will operate under your influence and leadership. They may not like it, but they won’t have a choice to stop it. As God changes your position, people will serve your destiny.

When Saul’s position changed, everything about him changed: he no longer labored to have what he wanted; several people served him; he sat in a position of authority; he took his place in the limelight; he went ahead of the crowd. God says, as it happened for Saul, so shall it happen for you.

Get set for majestic manifestations. Your position is about to change.

1 Samuel 2: 8 says: "He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory..."

Prayer : Lord, this year, I shall step into higher positions, in Jesus’ name!Amen

BEFORE THE END

As Saul and Samuel approached the end of the city, Samuel unveiled the word of the Lord to Saul. They were close to the end of the city, and Samuel unveiled the good news of Saul’s elevation. Before the end of the city, Saul enjoyed a spectacular manifestation. Before the end, Saul stepped into a new level.

Friend, hear God’s word of grace: before the end, you will be distinguished. There will be no end until you step into your divinely ordained manifestation. No chapter will be closed until you step into the splendour and glory that God designed for you. No opportunity will end until you make the most of it. Before the year ends, you will step into your next level; before any process is concluded, God will cause it to work in your favour.

There will be no conclusion until you are favoured; there will be no end until you are given your rightful place; there will be no decision until a decision is taken in your favour; there will be no end until you receive your portion; nothing will end except God has turned it around to work for your good.

What looked like the end of the road for Saul was a new beginning in the journey of Kingship. God says, when it seems that you have come to the end of the road, a new journey will begin and it will work in your favour.

God is the author and the finisher of our faith. Until He says it is finished, no man can close your chapter. Get set: before it ends, you will smile again.

Psalm 90 vs. 14 sums it up: “O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

Prayer : Lord, no chapter in 2016 will be closed until I step into my Exceeding Expansion, in Jesus’ name!Amen

WHEN SERVANTS OVERTAKE

“...Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Samuel instructed Saul to tell his servant to pass on ahead of them. Servants moved behind their masters in Old Testament times; but by Samuel’s instruction, the servant was meant to overtake both Saul and Samuel. Samuel’s instruction created an awkward scenario where a servant was ahead of his master.

Saul’s servant passed on ahead of them because Samuel wanted to show God's Word to Saul. When a less qualified servant moved ahead of Saul, it was because something greater was about to be unveiled in Saul’s life. Saul’s servant overtook him so that God could unveil Saul’s kingship.

Friend, when the ‘servants’ of this world move ahead of you in life, always remember that there is something new that God wants to show you. When people who are not as qualified as you begin to move ahead of you, don’t despair, there is something new in your life that God is about to unveil. When it seems that your subordinates are fast becoming your superiors, don’t lose your confidence; God is at work in you.

They overtook you so that your next level of greatness can be made manifest. They overtook you so that God will show you to your generation. They overtook you so that you can step into a new, higher level; they overtook you so that something special and supernatural can be made manifest in you. They overtook you so that you can step into your season of Exceeding Expansion.

Don’t lose sleep on account of the servants who are currently ahead of you. If God be for you, there will be a showing that the servants won’t be part of.

Prayer : Lord, when servants overtake me, show me a new thing, in Jesus’ name!Amen

DELAYED ON PURPOSE

“...Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Samuel commanded Saul to stand still for a while, in order to show him God's word. Saul was going to stay in the same position for a while, because God had something new to show him. He was about to be delayed in one position, because something new was about to be shown to him. He was delayed because there was about to be a showing.

Friend, when God allows you to remain at the same spot longer than you planned, it is for a purpose; just open your eyes, there might be something new that God wants you to see. When you are stuck at the same point you ought to have passed over, not for any fault of yours, be sure that God wants you to see what you haven’t seen.

God may have allowed your financial status to remain the same for a while so that He can show you new ideas that will increase you. God may have allowed you to be stuck with some problems so that you can pray more or even appreciate His mercies more. God may have allowed you to remain longer than you wish on the same level because of lessons you are yet to learn. If God allows delay, He has a purpose you need to discover.

When no purpose is being achieved through the delays you are facing, you just might be dealing with a case of stagnation. When you are delayed and God does not show you anything new, open your eyes to see.

Samuel wanted Saul to stand still for a while. What looked like delay in Saul's life was only for a while. Any God-ordained delay in your life is for a while. Soon, you will step out of it and step into your next level.

A MOVING ANOINTING

In Old Testament times, a flask of oil was poured on the head of a would-be king. The oil would ordinarily run down from the head to the face and to garments. It was such pouring of oil that was referred to in Psalm 133, when the oil on Aaron’s head ran down to his skirts. So the oil that was poured on Saul was oil that could run down his skirts; the oil that was poured on Saul made movements.

Friend, the anointing God wants to release on your life is an anointing that would move from your ‘head’ down to your ‘skirts’. It is an anointing that will make impact in different areas of your life; it’s an anointing that will open doors for you with ease; it’s an anointing that will bring great results in your career, business, ministry, academics, etc.

This year, the oil of God upon your life will make movements into various areas of your life. It will move into your future; it will visit your children wherever they are; it will move into the camp of your enemies and turn the tables in your favour; it will locate your clients and turn them in your favour; it will step into your health and roll away every health challenge; it will break the chains of bondage and affliction in your life.

This year, the evidence of God’s anointing upon your life will be manifest in every area of your life; but on the flipside, it is your duty to crave for and ask God for more of His presence and anointing upon your life.

No Exceeding Expansion can be achieved or sustained outside of the power of God at work within you. Ask God for more anointing that will make movements in your life.

YOU ARE PRESERVED

In Old Testament times, kings were anointed with oil. That oil was made up of different components, one of which is the ‘myrrh’. Myrrh has preservative properties. So when Samuel anointed Saul, he invariably poured the oil of preservation on Saul. Saul was anointed with the oil of preservation.

Friend, God says, you are preserved. You are preserved from harm; you are preserved from the attacks of the enemy; you are preserved from the wickedness of the wicked; you are shielded from tragedies and calamities; you are preserved from satanic plans against you; nothing will spoil in your life. What brings others down won't bring you down; what destroys others won’t destroy you.

As God grants you Exceeding Expansion, He won’t allow you to be vulnerable to the wickedness of the wicked. As God causes you to break forth on all sides, you won't go down because of haters. The oil of preservation upon your life is ahead of your haters; before they arrive, the oil of preservation will make their evil mission impossible.

God preserved Saul in view of who he had become. God knows about the greatness coming your way this year; He knows the material things you will soon possess; He knows the positions you are about to occupy; He knows the opposition that may arise against you. God says, concerning every opposition that has arisen or will still arise, you are already preserved.

The anointing oil in Old Testament times is symbolic of the Holy Spirit in New Testament times. As you walk closely with the Holy Spirit and draw near to God’s presence, you will be preserved.

Another ingredient of the anointing oil that was used in Old Testament times is the calamus, which has medicinal properties. So when Saul was anointed, God added healing and health to his life. If there was any sickness or sick area in Saul's life, the medicinal anointing was already waiting to deal with it.

Friend, as you stay connected to God this year, you will enjoy the medicinal anointing. God will cause you to experience healing in every sick area of your life. God will bring healing to your sick body; God will bring healing to your sick finances; God will bring healing to your sick business and career; God will heal your home, marriage, emotions, and any part of your life that is sick.

Saul was yet to fall sick when he was anointed with oil that had medicinal properties. God says, before ‘sickness’ arises, you have healing. No sickness or medical issue will keep your body in bondage this year; no issue will perpetually keep any facet of your life sick this year. Before any 'sickness' comes, you already would have the anointing for healing.

This year, when sickness arises, don’t accept it; enforce the medicinal anointing on your life. When sickness comes on your family, marriage, career, business, ministry, etc, enforce your rights as one who is already healed.

In Exodus 15 vs. 26 (MSG), God Says, "If you listen, listen obediently to how God tells you to live in his presence, obeying his commandments and keeping all his laws, then I won't strike you with all the diseases that I inflicted on the Egyptians; I am God your healer".

In our Focal Scripture, Samuel informed Saul about two men he would meet at Rachel’s sepulcher. Rachel was part of the history in Israel. She belonged to the past; she was a past history that was dead and forgotten; she was a history that had been buried and confined to the memory of Israel.

The men at Rachel’s sepulcher had good news of the recovery of the asses belonging to Saul’s father. The place of Rachel’s death became a landmark for good news. The dead and forgotten history represented by Rachel spoke in Saul’s favour. At Rachel’s sepulcher, instead of death, Saul found life. Saul’s history spoke in his favour.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: your history will speak for you. Something from your past is about to become a platform for good news in your life. Your past and forgotten efforts are about to bring you unexpected results; your past relationships are about to become harbingers of uncommon miracles and open doors. Things you may have forgotten in your past will soon arise and open a new, positive chapter in your life.

Things may have gone wrong in your past, but God is about to turn it around for good. The places that gave you pain will give you joy; the places where you were rejected will soon become places where you will be celebrated; the places in your past that remind you of how things went wrong are about to become landmarks for ceaseless celebrations.

FROM LOSS TO GAINS

In 1st Samuel chapter 9, Saul went in search of his father’s asses which were lost. Saul’s life experienced a loss; there seemed to be a subtraction from his family; there seemed to be a destiny reduction; someone who had lots of asses to manage suddenly found himself in a scenario of missing asses; Saul’s family suffered a loss in 1 Samuel 9.

In our focal Scripture, Prophet Samuel announced that Saul would meet two men at Rachel’s sepulcher who would inform him that his father’s lost asses have been found. Saul moved from a chapter of losses to a chapter of gains. He moved from reduction to restoration. He moved from subtraction to addition. He transited from a season of loss to a season of Exceeding Expansion.

Friend, in this Year, you shall move from a chapter of losses to a chapter of gains. You will move from reduction to restoration; you will move from subtraction to addition. You will move from exceeding losses to exceeding expansion. For everything you lost in time past, there shall be restoration with compensation. Every destiny reduction of the past shall be replaced with an amazing increase.

The restoration of the lost asses did not come by Saul's efforts. It came by the word of the Lord. This year, God’s word will orchestrate a restoration of everything you have lost. Without making efforts, you shall step into divine restoration with compensation. You shall not only recover what you lost; you shall also receive what you never even had.

Stay connected to God and God’s word, and you shall transit from losses to gains.

WALK IN PURITY

According to Samuel’s prophecy, Saul was meant to meet two men at Rachel’s sepulcher; but he was meant to meet three men at the plain of Tabor. Saul was going to move from meeting two men to meeting three men at the plain of Tabor. Simply put, Saul was meant to experience increase at Tabor.

‘Tabor’ is interpreted to mean ‘purity’. So at the place of purity, Saul experienced increase without even praying for it. Purity was the environment where increase came in contact with Saul. Purity was the location where Saul experienced the increase that Samuel prophesied about.

Friend, purity is the place of your increase. Righteous living is the platform where divinely orchestrated increase will come your way without efforts. Righteousness is the platform that will push you to the next level; righteousness is the key to your Exceeding Expansion. Righteousness is the environment that will cause God to give you more than you asked for.

When you live your life without purity, you are shortchanging yourself and truncating your destiny with your own hands. When you fail to live by God’s standard of purity and righteousness, you may keep seeking increase without experiencing it. There are divinely orchestrated testimonies that should be yours but which may never come to reality if you remain stuck in sin.

Let God not plan to bless you and end up seeing you in relationships you should have relinquished; let God not plan to increase you and see you in attitudes, behaviours, sins, etc that are toxic to your increase. Walk in righteousness and God will increase you.

PAY ATTENTION TO GOD

In our Focal Scripture, Prophet Samuel spoke of three men who would be going up to God in Bethel. Bethel was the place of worship. These men were on their way to the temple; their mission was to worship God. Their attention was on God; their movement was all about God; they were God chasers.

The men who were on their way to the temple had three kids, a bottle of wine and three loaves of bread. They later gave two loaves of bread to Saul. They focused on God, and they had what a king needed. They paid attention to God, and they had resources that their generation was in need of.

Friend, in this year, pay attention to God. Be a God chaser; run towards God; let your focus and commitment be towards God; let your hope be in God; let your heart be stayed on God; let God be the center of your being and your existence; let God be your foremost priority; let God be your destination.

Men whose destination is God’s house and whose priority is God always have what their generation needs. God chasers always have ideas that turn things around in their environment. If you become a God chaser, God will load you with benefits that will be beneficial to your generation; when you become a God chaser, God will give you resources that kings need.

Stop chasing opportunities to serve the kings of this world; just become a God chaser, make God your high priority, keep running towards God, and He will endue you with what your generation needs.

STUBBORN OPPOSITION

After Saul's anointing as king, he was meant to arrive at the hill of God. The hill of God is symbolic of higher spiritual attainment; it is symbolic of higher heights in Christ; it speaks of spiritual depth and spiritual increase; the hill of God speaks of higher intimacy with God.

At the hill of God, there was a garrison of the Philistines. The place of the highest spiritual attainment became the place of the highest opposition. The higher spiritual levels became the site where enemies of Israel encamped. Enemies of Israel didn't steer clear of the hill of God.

Friend, as you rise higher in your walk with God, always remember that there is a growing opposition against you from the camp of the enemy. There are people who would hate you without a just cause, all because you are growing deeper in your walk with God. There are people who would conspire against you because the hand of the Lord is upon you. Some negative spiritual gatherings will arise against you because of your relationship with God.

As you rise higher, get set for more spiritual warfare. Deepen your prayers no matter the spiritual heights you attain; never imagine that you are no longer a target of the enemy; never mistake your spiritual growth as an excuse for spiritual laxity.

Stay on the grind and fight every opposition against your destiny. Don’t take the opposition against you for granted; keep pushing in the place of prayers and spiritual warfare, keep pressing on and you will prevail.

Isaiah 54: 15 says: “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.”

DON'T BOW

Whilst the Philistine soldiers were encamped on the hill of God, a company of prophets were going about their assignment without fear. One would have imagined that the prophets would go into hiding because of the Philistine military occupation, but they didn’t. They didn’t bow because of enemies.

Friend, God says, don’t bow because of the enemies against you. Don’t allow your enemies to chase you into obscurity. Don’t allow the wickedness of people around you to intimidate you. Don’t bow in fear because of haters and adversaries. Don’t allow demonic encampments to prevail against you.

You need not live in fear simply because some people don’t like you; you need not go into hiding because some men are conspiring against you; don't be overtaken by any wickedness of the wicked; don't allow the enemies of your destiny to set the agenda for your life. Don't bow because of negativity. Refuse to be intimidated by any conspiracy.

If God be for you, no man and no power can successfully pull you down. If God is on your side, it doesn’t matter how many people are against you, they will fail. The presence of enemies is God’s opportunity to give you a new victory.

Focus on God and stop making the opposition against you feel more special that they should. Theirs is to conspire against you, but yours is to defeat them again and again.

1 John 4: 4 sums it up: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Our Focal Scripture introduces a company of prophets who were coming down from the high place with a psaltery, a tabret, a pipe and a harp. They had musical instruments; they had instruments of praise; put differently, these prophets were in a praise mode.

There was a Philistine garrison on the hill of God at the time when these prophets had instruments of praise. There was an enemy occupation while they praised. They were praising despite what was not in order; they praised despite a problem that was yet to be rolled away; they praised God in the midst of opposition.

Friend, whatever opposition or challenge you face this year, don’t let anything steal your praise. Don’t allow unanswered prayers to steal your praise; don’t allow the promotion that is yet to come to steal your praise; don’t allow the pending achievements to steal your praise; don’t let any difficulty, past failures, or whatever is wrong in your environment to steal your praise.

Your praise to God is a catalyst for divine intervention and exceeding expansion. If you dare to praise God despite what is not working, He will show up to make things work for you. If you embarrass the devil with praises despite your storms, God will have no option but to embarrass you with His goodness.

Praise God through the good and the bad; praise Him when things work and when things don’t work, and God will give you more than you asked.

Psalm 149: 6 says: “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;”

SPEAK THE WORD

Before Saul was unveiled as King, Prophet Samuel announced that Saul would prophesy with the prophets. Saul was to prophesy when his kingship was yet to be made known to Israel. He needed to prophesy when his next level was yet to manifest; he prophesied when there was no throne yet.

To prophesy is to speak the mind of God; to prophesy is to say what God is saying or what God said. So, Saul spoke mind of God before his kingship was made manifest by God. He spoke God’s word, he said what God was saying, and his kingship eventually became an outstanding reality.

Friend, as you run your race this year, do yourself a favour: prophesy. Speak the mind of God; speak God's word. Say what God is saying; say what God has said; speak words that are in line with God’s intention concerning you; search the scriptures and find words concerning you, and when you find them, speak them. Don’t just speak what you see at the moment; speak what you want to see; speak the future; speak life.

Everyone in Israel was not prophesying when Saul had to prophesy. Those prophesying may have been in the minority, but Saul prophesied. You might find yourself in the minority if you are speaking the mind of God, but don’t let it deter you. Everyone around you may be speaking about the hopelessness that abounds, but don’t let that stop you.

Saul may have been in the minority whilst speaking the mind of God, but in a matter of time, he reigned over the majority that did not speak God’s mind. If you keep speaking the mind of God, soon, you will reign over those who are not speaking it.
