Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings who’s been at large, was brought into custody last night.

The Boston Police Department confirmed that the suspect was apprehended at 8:45 p.m. ET after a harrowingmanhunt that shut down the city of Boston and the surrounding areas.

Boston Police said in a press conference an hour later that Tsarnaev was in serious condition at a local hospital.

Dzhokhar’s brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police late Thursday night into early Friday morning.

A later Friday night Tweet from the Boston P.D. proclaimed: “Captured!!! The hunt is over.”
