Introduction
The Institute for Fraud Management and Control (IFMC) is committed and focused to fighting fraud and corruption with research and trainings. Our objectives are to articulate, facilitate, and fund research on fraud and help develop, build a statistic foundation that will increase the body of knowledge and improve anti-fraud activities. This will, among other things, involve engaging in multi-disciplinary researches and education to reduce fraud and corruption in Nigeria.
Our vision is to be the leading anti-fraud professional institute in Nigeria and among the leading anti-fraud professional institute in the world. Our mission is to help the anti-fraud community and practitioners in Nigeria by producing anti-fraud professionals, through research and trainings, which shall stand their ground as professionals in any part of the globe. Also, by providing trainings and awareness opportunities for all stakeholders in the fight against fraud and corruption in Nigeria, we shall be presenting a truly independent and professional outfit for addressing the menace of fraud and corruption in Nigeria.
In pursuing our objectives and to ensure that our desired impact and influence, in reducing fraud and corruption in Nigeria is achieved, we are organizing the First Lagos Anti-Fraud Conference: EKO 2013 with the theme: How resistant is the Nigerian Banking Industry to fraud, corruption and loss of resources. This will serve as one of the windows of bringing together opinion leaders, banking and non-banking professionals, leaders in both the private and public sectors, community leaders, victims and potential victims of fraud/violent crimes, business executives, decisions makers, technocrats, public office holders, the cream of the society, etc; to educate, rob minds, create awareness and professionally chart ways of addressing the challenge of fraud and corruption from our banking sector.
This conference has been carefully thought out, packaged for a time like this to create a platform to effectively and sincerely address the issue of fraud and corruption in the Nigerian banking sector. The conference theme, faculty and structure were carefully chosen to surpass these expectations.
Objectives of the conference
As an institute, we shall be fulfilled to use the outcome of the conference to plan and focus our research and training activities. Also, we sincerely wish that the outcomes of this unique and timely conference shall be exploited by institutions and individuals saddled and concerned with eradication of fraud and corruption, in our banking industry. Thus we are calling on all persons and institutions that desire the growth of our banking sector in particular and our general society in general, to be part of this timely get together.
Broadly, we shall be using the occasion of the conference to further create awareness of the activities of our great and unique Institute for Fraud Management and Control (IFMC). Specifically we shall also be using the event to:
1. Create a platform for various persons and bodies interested in eradicating violent crime, fraud and corruption in our society to meet and interact.
2. Create networks and acquaintances of anti-fraud practitioners, and persons/institutions committed to eliminating violent crime, fraud and corruption in our society.
3. Examine the impact and challenge of fraud and corruption on the Nigerian banking sector.
4. Sensitize participants and the general public on the urgent need for people to put into practice anti-crime campaigns, lessons, knowledge, skills, etc; especially all the stakeholders in our banking sector.
5. Honour some deserving individuals and organizations, in the banking industry, with awards in recognition of their efforts and contributions in fighting and eradicating fraud and corruption in their spheres of contacts.
6. Admit some new members into our great, unique, and most timely professional institute.
Conference Focus
Be a part of the move to rid our banking sector of that monster called fraud, corruption and loss of scare resources. Come as we initiate a move to take our society to a position of trust, performance, achievement, excellence, and devoid of violent crime, fraud and corruption. In this eye-opener one-day conference, participants will definitely be fed and inundated with great thoughts and insights on fighting fraud and corruption in our banking sector.
