Former Nigerian model, Yinka Olonode, commits suicide in the US
On Monday April 29th, police said an unidentified man jumped from the rooftop restaurant of The Nines Hotel at 525 S.W. Morrison St, downtown Portland, USA. The man who jumped and died has been identified by the Multnomah County Medical's Examiner's Office as 34 year old Yinka Olonode.

Portland Police Bureau spokesman said Yinka jumped from the hotel building's 15th floor around 6:30pm that Monday evening. He said they do not suspect foul play but that the death is under investigation. If Yinka indeed committed suicide, nobody knows why he did it.

Yinka was a model back in the day and worked briefly for Rhythm FM before relocating to the US in 2003. Continue to see the popular MTN 'Shy Guy' TV commercial he featured in over 11 years ago.

In a world where people are faking everything, impatient, living to please others, competing with near and remote rivals, selfish and loving pleasures too much, suicide and violent crimes will be the currency of the day. If only we could learn to be ourselves, and learn to consider others in our day to day decisions, if only we could lend a helping hand and give a listening ear to a brother/ sister in need. If only we could offer genuine advice and not make a mockery of people in need. If only we could be true friends. Who knows, he and others might have overcome the temptation to take their lives.Some folks are emotionally fragile despite wearing a bold facade. Truth is that life does not always give us what we bargained for.Truth is that life can be unfair at times. Whatever be the case, a reliable, dependable and comforting friend, brother, colleague could be a balm in Gilead who will soothe the pain in our hearts and win us back to this life. RIP Yinka.
