I have often wondered if it made any difference switching lanes while driving in heavy traffic. My observation is that you are most likely to exit traffic at the same time with the same range of vehicles that you entered traffic with. What has been your observation?

True, u exit almost the same time, except there's a broken down vehicle on your lane. But, in a disorganised city like PH, it may not always be true.

@Dora: I agree. I think the same scenario plays out in Lagos in the event of a serious break down. In which case the exit will be narrow and vehicles file out in singles or a little more than one. This give sufficient space for vehicles to speed of after the exit. But if it is just a single vehicle...we almost always exit at the same range.
