I really like biting my nails I have tried to stop but I can't oh it has eaten deep inside me

Am 24yrs old i stil av dis habit,sometyms my fingernails drop into my mouth and give me cough. Pls wat am i goin 2 do

i did til like last 2 months,and it's now long,but d painful tin is dat d fingas nails are 2 soft,and quickly break,infact everybody knows in my house dt i'm growin my nails.if any1 breaks,i wil cry

i learnt that fingernails is a good source of calcium n selenium,ain't it?

I bite my nails when am lost in thought. An ex tried using nail polish to dissuade me. Another tried scoldings. My current is always hitting my hand. I guess its in †нэ blood.

I used to. And sometimes when I'm feeling down and absent-minded I still do.
But you can stop it.
#1 - decide to grow your nails.
#2 - start using nail varnish. Make sure your nails are always varnished.
#3 - be conscious of your biting habits. Realize when you are about to bite them and reprimand yourself immediately.
#4 - Find a nail artist and ask her/him to design your natural nails like once monthly.
#5 - If you bite them, punish yourself.

All in all, it's all about determination

Yeah. I usually do so when in deep thought or nervous lol.

Thats why i get them done with acrylic every two to three weeks to help me stop this bad habit.

So far so good.

To be sincere with myself i still bit and chew my finger nails, well as a mathematicien base on the reply so far i can say there is a probability that %70 still chew the finger nails

I used to do it but i had to coat my nails with varnish and fix artificial nails sometimes. It helps me though.

I still bite mine and I show no sign of stopping. I'm currently working on my doctorate and the only way for me to stay up all night solving those ODEs and PDEs; inverting those matrices and modelling and discretizing those CFD equations is by biting them finger.

Coffee is the best stimulant only if you never bit them nails doing all those.

Listen everyone ,its a common trend for younger folks but i would best advice that u have your nails cut very short with nail cutter regularly an u will have no nails to bite ...it worked for me!

Gosh! The nails are tasteless, or do u sprinkle salt before chewing? Do u swallow after chewing?

I was a terrible nail chewer(if der's a word lyk dat). After chewing my finger nails i'll sit on d floor,bend my head n chew my toe nails as well. But when i started working in d hospital i got rid of d habit at once. Cos i couldnt put my finger in my mouth after touchin terrible things
