The Senate on Tuesday approved the State of Emergency declared by President Goodluck Jonathan in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States.

The 100 senators present unanimously approved the president’s declaration at a session of the whole house.

The Senate had earlier gone for closed door session to debate the matter. At the end of the closed door session, the committee of the whole Senate unanimously approved Mr. Jonathan’s declaration; with none of the senators present opposing it.

The situation of things in Nigeria has become so scary. The senators may be afraid of the BH manace and its consequences on the polity. Hence any action other than what the did may put them at loggerheads with the populace.

A nice move. But do they have any option? Have they not been a rubber stamp senators. If not for mediocrity, how can all the senators approve a particular thing without anyone having a contrary view no matter how good it is?

Of course the senate is going to approve it, along with the Northern governors. Wasn't it obvious to you folks?

The Northerners are enjoying the booty of the country, both in money and in actual nyash. They know that Boko Haram is getting out of control and can even remove them from power or cause the country to divide. Either way, the Northern elite can lose, thus they are fully support for a rather unprecedented move of sending troops to Northern states during civilian rule.

Meanwhile,

Tinubu and his political maestros who play politics very well overestimated themselves, thinking they could get some support from the northerners for their "No to emergency rule" stance. Unfortunately for them, the Northern elite can play politics very well, and did not need Tinubu's noise to take the obvious decision and keep their milk and honey flow continuing without end.

Tinubu would be absolutely livid with ACN senators present.
