Oba Akiolu of Lagos marked the 10th anniversary of his ascension to the throne of his ancestors on Sunday, 26 May at the Iga Iduganran Palace, with special prayers.



An Islamic scholar, Alhaji Muhideen Bello, who delivered a lecture as part the anniversary celebrations, urged traditional rulers in the country to always strive to guide politicians in efforts to give good governance.



Former governor of Lagos State,Brig.-Gen. Raji Rasak, former governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke, Chief Musiliu Obanikoro, Chief Rasak Okoya, Chief Adegunwa of Phototek also attended the event.

Its only in Benin (Edo) that you would find such. Almost, if not all Yoruba kingdoms have more than one Royal family.

.. Thanks for the Enlightenment, i asked because, I don't see reason why one family will be royal than the other in this time and age, enjoying some special privilege. Knowing fully well we don't choose the family we were born into. That's one of the reason I resent the British royal family.

When 'Tradition was tradition', this type can NEVER be Oba of Lagos but in a brazen ra*pe and bastardization of our culture, whereby "Traditional stools" have become a compensation for Political shenanigans, this ex-Mopol (You can imagine, Police man!) was maneuvered to become the Oba, (go and read the story and court case) by Tinubu, in compensation for his activities, even as a serving Police officer, during the Nadeco days!

No wonder Deji of Akure was 'stripped' and that other one from Ogun state was stripped of his clothing and given a thorough beating!

Yoruba Obas are supposed to be "spiritual rulers", anointed "spiritually", ...not some "Political Appointee"!

Anyway, its another sign of "OUR TIMES"!
