Omehia Under Pressure To Withdraw Suit Against Amaechi by Nobody: 8:51am On Jun 02, 2013
The 2011 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Celestine Omehia, may possibly be under an intense pressure to withdraw his suite at the Supreme Court against Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Omehia had gone to court to challenge the dateline for the conduct of the 2011 governorship election in the state. It would be recalled that the election was conducted alongside the national election rather than the expected October 27, the date Amaechi was sworn-in by the order of the Apex Court in 2007.

Sources hinted Sunday Independent that Omehia threatened to withdraw the case against his cousin because of a high level politicking between the Presidency and some interest groups in the state.

According to the source, the Minister of State for Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike, was said to be nursing the interest of taking over the governance of the state in an eventuality of Amaechi’s impeachment, a situation that had allegedly clashed with Omehia’s interest.

He said that the Presidency has gone in search of possible replacement and Omehia was not in the picture because he is not a PDP card carrying member.

The source stated that Omehia may not want to be a bad loser if he continues in the case and Amaechi is eventually impeached yet he fails to be made the next governor of the state.

Again, the permutation of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan was said to be grooming her brother, Senator George Sekibo to become the new governor should the impeachment sword dangling in the state is executed successfully.

Patience, who hails from same Okrika Local Government Area with Senator Sekibo, was said to be the moving spirit behind his re-election few years ago.

With the daunting pressure from Wike to become the governor, Omehia was said to have threatened to withdraw the case which is one major weapon the Presidency seems to have left in the plot to “remove Amaechi by every means possible.”

Is Barr Nyesom Wike the deputy governor that will automatically take over the reign of governance should Amaechi be impeached
