I kept the beans I bought a month ago inside a nylon,then kept it in a covered bucket,I opened it today and saw that it has been destroyed by weevil.
Please how I can preserve my beans?
Is onions used to preserve beans?
I need response to prevent waste of food another time.

put dry pepper seeds inside ur beans, it helps to reduce weevils

Air tight rubber containers are also good for storing beans. Make sure the containers are properly dried (water free) before storing the beans.

here is how i do mine. i sort the beans and put in the freezer. any time u want to cook beans just take it out of the freezer and straight onto the fire.

I buy those smaljerycans they use to sell palmoil(10litres I thnk)pour my beans in it,then add dried pepper(shumbo),we don't eat much beans in my house,so beans can last upto 4mnths and these weevils don't even come near

yes u can but the smaller the cover the better. Jerrycans are more preferrable.

normal nylon bags i what i use and they dont get soggy. it ll only be very chilled. just make sure u tie it air tight before u put it in the freezer.

Store the beans in an airtight container or bag and keep in the freezer. Beans will not get soggy as long as they do not get wet. Cheers

Hahaha! See suggestions. Here's wat my mum does. U know DOGONYARO leaves? Get them, mix it with ur beans in a basin and pour in a gallon. If u like live it 4 1 year, they won't come near it.

Haba OP when they are so many ways to kill weevils with ingredients that are even in your kitchen right now. You can use black pepper(cameroun or sombo) ground one mix it well with your beans, some people say just place it on top self. You can use dogonyaro or neem leaves as suggested, you can use ground tobacco snuff, did you know that? OP, just pour in a container that has got a lid. Then add dry pepper (not powdered o) to it. Make your the pepper is uniformly displaced in it... and that's all.

This is an age long technique (Courtesy Grandma).

Should I dry the dogoyaro leave before mixing with beans?

I keep mine in the fridge! Ever so fresh...
