I bet you thought you needed years of experience and a bunch of letters behind your name to be considered an expert. But here’s some great news–you don’t. All you need is the ability to do something and do it well. Don’t underestimate your skill set. Your know-how could literally be the golden ticket to opening more doors and making you lots more money.

1. Open your mouth. There’s no better way to showcase what you know than by talking about it. Speaking at conferences, seminars, and other events associated with your business are all fantastic ways to boost your income. Did you know professional speakers could earn over a million dollars a year? Donald Triumph earns $1.5 million dollars an hour. Obviously name recognition has its perks, but even newbie speakers are earning $500.00 an hour. So why shouldn’t you? The key is to provide innovative information that improves the consumer’s life or business in some way. Give them something to think about in a new or unique way that no one else can.

2. Teach what you know. The world is one big classroom. It’s amazing how much we learn from other people. It’s also amazing what others can learn from you. You’re the expert and experts can use their knowledge to teach others. Could students benefit from what you know? Is there a non-profit or community organization that needs your know-how? Think about moving beyond traditional classroom settings, and host a virtual course or webinars. These options require little investment but could yield a great return.

3. Pick up your phone. Another hot money making trend are tele-seminars. These are seminars conducted over the phone where you provide content for a fee. It’s a super-convenient scenario for your client and it’s easy for you. Just provide the conference number and a code to your participants. Even better, most conferencing services are free. I use Free Conference Call HD, which allows you to host tele-seminars and record them for free.

4. Be “product”-ive. They say “there’s more than one way to skin a cat” and in this case, it’s true. “Skin” your expertise and create a host of products to sell. Did you know you could self-publish an e-book for less than $300.00? Were you aware you could use a lap top and a USB microphone to create quality, professional sounding MP3s? Did you know you could upload those MP3s and create podcasts or burn the audio to CDs? You could even use your smart phone or tablet and create a video series packed with tips, tools and strategies needed by your clients. What makes products a great selling tool is they create residual income. You do the work once and it earns income over and over again.

5. Collaborate with others. In the business world, teamwork can definitely pay off. Many experts are collaborating with others to build affiliate relationships. Affiliate agreements allow you to earn commissions by promoting other experts products. So every time you send web traffic or sales to anther expert, you’re compensated for it. This type of relationship can be very profitable. Believe it or not, Jeff Bezos, CEO and founder of Amazon.com, began harnessing the profits of affiliate relationships as early as 1996. His use of affiliate programs to drive traffic to Amazon.com has been hailed one of the most genius internet marketing strategies around. So if you can’t beat them, join them. Start networking and join forces to build your income.

The thing to remember is there’s an expert in all of us, so don’t minimize what you do well. It’s time to leverage your expertise and add some cash to your stash.
