You can't franchise a multi-national company like that. You can create a subsidiary, but I doubt they'll allow the franchising of their name especially in a "virgin" territory.

No international hotel franchise owns a hotel in Lagos. They manage the hotels on behalf of Nigerian owners. Sheraton Lagos is controlled by the Ibru family (Ikeja Hotel Ltd) but managed by Starwood International under the Sheraton name. Radisson Blu is owned by Oba Otudeko but managed by Carlson Rezidor Group under the Radisson name. Hilton Abuja is owned by Transcorp but operated by the Hilton group. It was at one time jointly owned by NICON and Noga thus it was called Nicon Noga Hilton.

If you remember Eko Hotel was called Eko Holiday Inn in the 80s. It was then managed by the Holiday Inn chain. Big hotel groups find it less risky and less capital intensive to operate hotels on behalf of local investors in developing countries.

Wonderful architectural piece. Great signs of infrastructural development in Lagos. #Eko oni Baje oo.
Any idea about this hotel recruiting, my GF works in the food/hospitality industry, I wouldn't mind if she can work there. Any links...

However, just wondering who are they owners of Eko Hotel. I thought it was the Chagouri's but a colleague said its Odua Group.

Exclusive: Tinubu Ejects LGA From Headquarters, Takes Over Prime Property

…. Continues His Lustful Acquisition Of Lagos Assets

SAN FRANCISCO, November 13, (THEWILL) –

Controversial former Lagos State Governor and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has taken over a prime property that was once the headquarters of Ikoyi-Obalande Local Government Development Area and relocated the local government
secretariat to Obalende, a district in the commercial city of Lagos.

The huge and strategic parcel of land located at the junction of Alfred Rewane Road (Kingsway Road) and Glover Road in highbrow Ikoyi has been demolished to make way for prime construction believed to be blocks of serviced luxury flats. The acquisition of the property is coming on the heels of the ACN’s defeat in the local government chairmanship election for Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Mr. Ibrahim Babatunde Obanikoro.

The politician has also cornered the contract to reconstruct Glover Road using a proxy company P.W. Nigeria Limited.

Though THEWILL has not been able to get details of the transaction, several sources say the politician is recklessly acquiring properties in prime locations across the state with the assistance of current Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).

Tinubu’s acquisitions since he left office cuts across real estate, media and aviation. His company AlphaBeta Consulting collects all Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for Lagos State and some ACN controlled states. It gets to keep a sizeable chunk for itself. AlphaBeta is believed to rake in as much as N7 billion naira monthly as commission for its work.

The politician is also believed to own FirstNation Airlines, The Nation Newspaper, stakes in Oriental Hotel Victoria Island, Renaissance Hotel Ikeja, Eko Hotel Lagos, and the yet to be completed InterContinental Hotel located along Kofo Abayomi Street, near the popular Mega Plaza in Victoria Island. Tinubu also owns TV Continental (TVC) and Radio Continental.

The former Governor who was engulfed in a University certificate scandal during his tenure as Governor, also owns a huge shopping mall complex in Alausa, Ikeja, popularly called Shoprite by its mainland patrons.

THEWILL gathered that the shopping complex was constructed on a large parcel of land believed to have been hijacked from the Lagos State Government.

In a similar gestapo-style move, the governor also bullied Lagosians and acquired the Lekki-Epe highway, reconstructed and tolled the road under a highly controversial agreement.

Tallest building =

NECOM House (if you include the communications tower).

Stallion Plaza (if you exclude NECOM House's telecoms tower).

Both buildings can be seen in the picture below.

it's taller because aside the underground parking lot, the first 2 floors from ground level are each over a storey high and same cannot be said of the cocoa building. Take a good look at the reception of the intercontinenetal building. The picture is on the first page.

WEMPCO Group own oriental, Tinubu just helped them with the permits etc.

@Post: you build the tallest hotel on Africa on such a small plot??

They should have built something that high on a larger and more appropriate piece of land

He demanded and got 50% of the equity in return for the bolded. What the hell was he doing "helping" them with the permits? Is he an architect, town planner or commissioner for physical planning? He tried the same scam on Tayo Amusan of Persianas, owners of The Palms. He decided, vindictive b'stard that he is, to block them off the Lekki-Epe expressway when they rejected his demands.

He also stalled the Lagos Free Trade Zone project with the same sort of demands. Wanted 50% of the whole project for himself, otherwise he would refuse them planning permission. They refused, and he also refused to grant them planning. The result was a 2 and a half year delay on that project, which snowballed to about 5 years.

Bola Tinubu is an evil, grasping, greedy, conniving, avaricious felon, who must be made to return the trillions he has stolen from Lagosians one day.

Have been following this thread from the page 1

Nothing bad about the construction and ownership, do you know Hospitality and tourism is the largest employer of labour in the world, remember, Nigerians have been employed in one way or the other and some people will still be working as a staff, although, the staff will be full of foreign workers at operation level

but sooner, Nigeria tourism proffesion will be at it's peak, watch out for Disney land in Nigeria, we deserve it, I pray that God will bless us to do more than this.

But remember, we need to rebrand NIgeria to invite foreign tourist who are interested in tourism investment and diverse of Attraction.

Am not a marketing manager of this hotel or a politician, but am an unemployed Hospitality and tourism graduate who is always aspiring to have this kind of hotel in future. And pls If i can get a job from you, i will appreciate. God Bless Nigeria.

Stop with the propaganda. The article you posted even said that the reporters HAD NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEALS. They just listed prominent projects in Lagos and said Tinubu was responsible for all of them. Your article even says that his businesses collect all of the IGR in Lagos State.... Now don't you feel ashamed?

Can you at least quote a real newspaper next time you decide to spread your lies.
