Should Wayne Rooney Stay At Manchester United? by Nasri100(m): 3:06pm On Jun 10, 2013 |
Ferguson’s decision to step down from his coaching role at manchester united looks to have invoked hot fire in the United squad. Top Players Like Robin Vanpersie didn’t hesitate to hide their disappointment on his decision. Robin said: “I had to gasp for breath and I shook my head. Had he really said what I thought he’d said?” “The room fell deathly quiet and then everyone became emotional. “Sir Alex then had a long talk with the squad. I found it a very special speech and felt privileged to have witnessed it. “It was an historical moment for football, even though I was not happy to hear his message.” He(Robin) obviously wouldn’t be asking for a transfer request. And you find that a bit funny because his primary decision of moving to Manchester was to work under Fergie- and since Fergie is gone- he has to adapt under new manager David Moyes. His other team-mate nicknamed shrek by twitter users isn’t feeling the same. I knew from the moment Fergie decided to play Robin as the main striker, and place Rooney in a more deeper role in the midfield that it was never going to work out. Rooney has clearly reiterated his desire to play as the Main Striker or he’s leaving. And when you look at United’s bench comprising of Welbeck, Hernandez, then Robin Vanpersie, that is going to be a major headache for David Moyes. Moreso, Big players have got big egos, you don’t expect keeping Rooney on the bench since he has refused that deep- lying midfield role. He is a big players and if he isn’t played in his preferred position, then he might opt to leave. Robin on the other hand had a fantastic season where he was the major catalyst that spurred united’s early league acquisition. That means, he falls first in the pecking order in the attack department. And that also means, Rooney falls second or third (clearly can’t be last heh). Then in a strange twist of fate, the same manager who called Rooney an arrogant player, and also sued him once is set to be his coach next season. That is like Pouring hot water on sour wound. Although, pundits may suggest they may both work out their differences, which I find possible. but then, Rooney is more like an enigma, aggressive, arrogant, you name it. he’s totally unpredictable, he could decide to hand in a transfer request today, and block it tomorrow. And Remember, a big manager like Fergie had torrid times with Rooney on few occasions. So expecting Moyes to contain his behaviors and do the daddy-son thing is impossible. That leaves Rooney with two big decisions- Stay or Leave. If he chooses the latter, they are numerous clubs wanting to secure his services despite his gigantic wages. Arsenal, according to the media, are in pole position to strike a deal with United. Owner Ivan Gasidiz gave Wenger the boost of the Club’s ability to afford Rooney’s transfer fee and wages. A move to Arsenal is quite ideal. Olivier Giroud has struggled on few occasions and isn’t that lethal or clinical striker. Unlike Rooney who possess those abilities. So a starting place at Arsenal is guaranteed unless Arsenal get Falcao, then he should be worried. (heh) Rooney is still in a productive football age and staying at Manchester involves two things – Endure whatever Moyes decides even if it doesn’t match your satisfaction, play second-fiddle to Robin. He clearly wouldn’t want any of those. So your thoughts, should Rooney stay at Manchester United or seek for Greener pastures elsewhere? -nasforAMBV |
