Avram Grant Factfile

• 1955: May 6 - Born in Petah Tikva, Israel.

• 1974: Becomes youth coach at Hapoel Petah Tikva at the age of 19.

• 1978: Wins youth championship with Hapoel.

• 1986: Appointed coach of the senior team at Hapoel.

• 1991: Appointed coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv.

• 1992: Wins Israeli title in his first season at Tel Aviv.

• 1995: Wins his second title with Tel Aviv before moving to Hapoel Haifa.

• 1996: Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv for a second, less successful spell.

• 2000: After failing to recreate the success of his earlier spell, Grant receives death threats from disgruntled fans and is later sacked. He is appointed as manager of Maccabi Haifa.

• 2001: Wins the title with Maccabi Haifa but is denied the chance of Champions League football after fielding an ineligible player in a qualifying match.

• 2002: Wins the title again and Maccabi Haifa become the first Israeli side to compete in the Champions League. Appointed manager of Israel.

• 2004: A disappointing qualification campaign for the Euro 2004 tournament, including a 2-2 draw with Malta, sees the media calling for Grant's head. Courts controversy by travelling to the African Nations Cup in Tunisia - officially an enemy country of Israel.

• 2006: Narrowly misses out on World Cup qualification after leading Israel to third in their group behind France and Switzerland.

Appointed technical director at Portsmouth.

• 2007: Appointed director of football at Chelsea. Put in charge of team alongside Steve Clarke following departure of Jose Mourinho.

@chelsea fans

how does it feel to conceed a false penalty grin tongue tongue grin

what goes round comes around tongue and u guys lack discipline. some of ur players almost took the red card away from the ref. and what is more, ur boys forgot fair play and refused to return the ball to man utd when man utd kicked the ball away for a player who was down. SHAME ON CHELSEA tongue
Re: Strictly Chelsea Talk: by McOmo(m): 11:41pm On Sep 23, 2007
Big shame ! Essien ought to be punished for that !
Re: Strictly Chelsea Talk: by showlankie(m): 12:34am On Sep 24, 2007
It was the wrongest fixture against manU to come after Jose's exit, our chelsea boys played with alot of psychological set backs, the red card killed them and again the goal that came in the third minute of a 2 minute extra time switched us off. wat else, it even looked like man u were playing out of pity. we have a lot to pick up and i am sure we'd bounce back
Re: Strictly Chelsea Talk: by chuckdee4(m): 2:29am On Sep 24, 2007
Chelsea fans, i saw teh game against Man U and u guys did not have a clue, i know that drogba and lampard are injured but with the price of players u had on there i was expecting a draw at least, there was no steel and no threat up front, i fear its becoming a 3 horse race without Chelsea.
