PDP Governors, Opposition Shun Jang’s NGF Meeting by edababa007(m): 9:55pm On Jun 17, 2013
Many governors of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, shunned Monday evening meeting called by Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau.
Mr. Jang, the self-proclaimed chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum,NGF, had called the meeting to discuss crucial national issues including revenue sharing between the federal and state governments.
PDP governors including Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Abubakar Aliyu of Niger, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, and Seidu Dakingari of Kebbi all shunned the meeting.
All the 11 governors who are members of the newly formed All Progressives Congress, APC, also shunned the meeting.
The meeting was, however, attended by 16 governors, who are believed to be loyal to Mr. Jang. The governors are expected to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan after the meeting.
Mr. Jang had lost last month’s election of the governors’ forum chairman to Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers by 16 to 19 votes, but rejected the result.

Pants on fire, Master of misinformation! The meeting had in attendance 16 governors! Jang himself while speaking with journalists after the meeting confirmed that only 16 governors attended the meeting

http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/06/17/jang-meets-with-some-governors-in-abuja/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

What a silly excuse he gave on why some governors in his rank could not attend the meeting. So if the governors were out of the country or had other things to attend to, they couldn't send in their deputies? An impersonator, Undemocratic element!

He said most of the governors that didn't attend might have travelled out of the country. smh for Jonah Jang. The earlier he knows that he is a total failure, the better for him.

As long as these 36 emperors congregate to clink glasses of cognac, at the expense of the masses, under whatever guise, be it NGF or NCS, Nigeria will never know development.
This a trade union for the advancement of their interests and it is a shame that Nigerians who have been bearing the brunt of their mafia-vice grip on the polity, will join in this macabre dance of who won the election or not.
These men, through this union, dictate who becomes a councillor, Local govt chairman, state and federal legislators and (since 2007) President!
The effect of this ,is that being a governor automatically qualifies one for the office of President. They did it in 2007, when two of their members became President and vice. When Yar'adua died, they nominated one of their own as vice to the present president. Now our choice of President has been reduced to these 36 governors, who are anti-democrats and development(check how they run their states).
People like Prof Pat utomi, oby Ezekwesili, Dora Akunyili et al, who are qualified for the office of President will never get there ,since they won't have the support of the NGF.
NB: Anyone that wanted to mention Fashola or Akpabio as doing well, should stop and marry the level of development in those states with what accrues to the state from the FG and revenue.

Agreed the NGF might not be a group for advancing the much needed robust all encompassing Nigeria development. It may even be standing on shaky prongs of "right to associate" parlance of constitution. These do not debase and undermine the fact that the present happenings in the forum is a serious error and show of shame orchestrated by the power that be which if not challenged could be a precursor to greater and greatest chain of errors.

Nigeria is not strictly speaking one party nation. That NGF has been choosing and endorsing who be the vice/president is as a result of weak opposition. PDP ordinarily doesn't need NGF to achieve such. I think democracy is a game of majority. Jang's failure at NGF election is a step towards breaking the presidency dominance and control over the state governors. All the sterling qualities ascribed to GEJ before his election were lies. I'm not disappointed. He is the part of the rotten system. That is why he is supporting a failed Jang just to boost his ego.

It is not just our consciousness that determines our existence, but vice-verse & this is to say we all need each other to succeed when we are ready to move forward.

These governors wont cease to amaze me, they have just shown the whole world how unorganized and shameless they are.
Imagine, an election consisting only 36 people cant and wasnt done freely and fairly, and we wonder why they are not performing in their respective states, isnt it obvious
SMH for them.

Alxmyr: Point of correction: 18 governors attended.

But trust our media, especially our print media, they will coin a negative caption for it to suit their purpose. I watched it on TV and 18 governors or deputy governors were in attendance.

The article only listed the 6 PDP and 11 opposition governors as those that stayed away but refused to state clearly that governors/deputy governors of the following states attended:

1) Ondo

2) Cross River

3) Kaduna

4) Abia

5) Taraba

6) Kwara

7) Kogi

cool Anambra

9) Gombe

10) Ebonyi

11) Enugu

12) Katsina

13) Bauchi

14) Plateau

15) Benue

16) Delta

17) Bayelsa

How was it not done freely and fairly? Did someone snatch or stuff the ballot box?

The election was free and fair. I think what happened was that prior to the election, there had been an agreement to vote Jang but Jang's faction was disappointed when the result didn't turn out as expected. Like someone has stated earlier, the NFG is a strong forum and force to be reckoned with in general elections. And with Rotimi as the chairman whom I heard has an eye in Aso rock, Jonathan's chances to come back might be jeopardized. Both of them being south southerners will slash Jonathan's votes from the region. Jonathan recognises this hence the Jang's faction. These factions remind me of NFF and NFA factions. Nigeria never ceases to amaze the world. I have two words for all of them "selfish interest".

PDP believe if they keep telling this lie and pressure down our throat, we will all come to accept Mr. Jang as Chairman. And this is a template for 2015 vigorously being pushed by Mr President. Nna men 2015 shocked

In a useless country anything is amusement. How many days do these governors stay in their states to really govern.
Days in day out, you hear governors attending so-so meeting, weeding, to see the president, party's national committee, I just wonder if they were ever in their states.
Nigeria is finished.
