I am planning to join the British Army, I have been invited for an interview in August after passing the Barb Test. I am applying to Information Technology career with Royal Signals.

I want to be join because of
(1) Pay
(2) Travel
(3) Education ( I have masters but want to learn IT skills that will be useful after service)

I am 1000% that the I may have to go to war and may die or be injured. I have peace with that reality so u dont have to mention it. I am a believer that they is more to life than sittng behind a computer (WORK FOR AN OIL COMPANY BUT NOT HAPPY), while life and events shapes the world.

what do you think ?

Second have u considered that your career advancement might be restricted since I suspect you are not a citizen. On reconsideration, I think thEy ought to even make u a citizen.

I am not a citizen but commonwealth citizens are eligble. I dont think my career advancement will be restricted. I will have equal opportunity along side UK Citizens.

No need for jazz, just be physically fit and make sure u are willing to tolerate The army lifestyle.

for Soldier career: no residency requirement
for Officer career: 5 yrs

Do you have proof that you can do that? According to their website and numerous online news reports they stopped doing that. In order to join now you have to have resided in the uk for 5 years before you will be accepted. Your best bet is the french foreign legion . Good luck.

Yup! YoÙ are right. I applied around march this year and was told I aint eligible due to the new uk policy.. You must have been a resident for at least 5 years or one blah blah whatever... So OP, how and when did you apply for you to have been called for an interview.

Op are you in UK already or in Nigeria. Because British army requires all candidates that wants to join that are from Commonwealth to be in UK with Valid Visa.
