A female student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife was caught trying to flushher new born baby down the toilet. The girl was caught by one of the cleaners who noticed blood streaming from the drainage linked to the bathroom.
There is some speculation that she may not havebeen trying to flush the bay, but may have given birth unexpectedly while sitting on the toilet.
The child was rescued and both mother and childare receiving treatment at the University’s health institution
