Kenyan Aircraft Was Grounded For Violating Security Procedures by Nobody: 2:04am On Jun 21, 2013
THE Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, said, yesterday, that a Kenyan aircraft has been grounded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, since June 3. The agency said the aircraft violated thecountry’s security procedures.
General Manager, Public Affairs of FAAN, Yakubu Dati, who spoke with newsmen in Ikeja said: “The aircraft which landed at the MMIA atabout 6.36 p.m. with 18 passengers, including three deportees from Kenya did not follow laid down procedures.”
He added that officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and some security officials discovered some lapses during routine checks and that the DC-9 aircraft marked 5Y-SAS, belongs to Cavok Airlines.
Dati, however, explained that “the aircraft will be released immediately the security personnel complete their checks.”
It will be recalled that an aircraft belonging to a Kenyan citizen flew into the country through the MurtalaMuhammed International Airport without proper documentation, Monday, June 3 and was grounded by the Nigerian aviation authorities.
According to aviation sources, the pilot, apart from failing to file proper flight schedule, falsely declared that the plane was on a diplomatic mission, as it was later found to belong to a Kenyan citizen. The jet was said to have brought a deported Nigerian based in Kenya, over the allegation of matrimonial crisis with his Kenyan wife.

The Kenyans deserve NO explanation for decisions of our FG. The same Kenyans that want us to recognize their decisions have no respect for even their own courts! Kenya is indeed a jungle for labeling all Nigerians as thieves and drug peddlers! It is simply unacceptable!

No Nigerian label Kenyans the way they love to label "Nigerians".Nigerian music and movies are pirated to high heavens in Kenya, yet Nigerians haven't labelled them thieves or piracy kingpins! Kenyans love to speak of Nigerian tribes and Boko Haram insurgency as if Kenya has none of it. Indeed, the level of constant blood letting between Kenyan tribes such as Luo,Kikuyu,Kisii,Luhya and Kamba etc in unheard of in Nigeria.

If someone is a "Nigerian" he doesn't necessarily have to be a drug peddler, a thief or a Juju priest as Kenyans love to think! If those Nigerians are truly found to be a drug peddlers, then charge them to court and allow Kenyan law convict him. Then put them on airplanes and deport them. It is wrong to merely deport someone living in Kenya for 18 years on being a "Nigerian" and therefore a "suspected" drug peddler, without giving him the courtesy of a court trial. That is witch hunting and jungle justice which is simply untenable!

The story has been on nairaland several times since 2008/2009.

naptu2: Background.

Anthony Chinedu (Nigerian) and Joyce Akinyi (Kenyan) got married in 2004. They had children and ran several businesses together. Joyce is a former member of the Kenyan Parliament.

Then the rumour mill was agog with stories of an affair between Joyce and a member of parliament, Raphael Wanjala. Joyce and Raphael were arrested in India for failing to disclose that they had 12 million shillings in their possession when they entered the country. Joyce Akinyi and Anthony Chinedu split in 2007.

Joyce claims that her arrest in India was masterminded by Anthony Chinedu and she vowed to get her revenge.

There are several court cases between Joyce and Anthony. They are both fighting for custody of the children. Anthony claims that Joyce is also trying to take over all their businesses and get him deported. Joyce got the police to raid Anthony Chinedu's club several times.

So, the question people are asking is, is this the revenge that Joyce vowed to get?

Warri Pikin: ".....Indeed,the level of constant blood letting between Kenyan tribes such as Luo,Kikuyu,Kisii,Luhya and Kamba etc in unheard of in Nigeria....."

^^^Precisely! Just the other day i was watching a news report on the Kenyan election crises of a few years back, and i saw a clip of a skinny looking Luo -with a sharp matchete and a crazed look on his face- chasing down another skinny looking Kikuyu in the slums of Nairobi.....suffice to say the Kikuyu was a dead man walking!

Re: Chinedu And His Kenyan Wife/ Why Marry A Foreigner To Suffer by Aloy.Emeka: 6:48pm On Apr 01, 2009

It’s 11.45am at the Deepwest Resort Club. Anthony Chinedu and Joyce Akinyi, the estranged couple exchange bitter words and a blow is thrown to mark a return to their feuding ways. And this time, the feud is about property.

Ms Akinyi, who only two days ago arrived in the country after a spell in an Indian jail, announced her return with a dramatic confrontation with her estranged Nigerian husband, Chinedu.
The scene, reminiscent of the famous love-hate scenes of Nigerian movies so popular in Kenyan, lasted the better part of Tuesday.

The supporting cast of Kenyans followed every unfolding scene from the fence of the club at the centre of ownership tussle between the couple. It was a free movie after all, and not even verbal threats from Akinyi’s male relatives would force wananchi to leave the scene.

Journalists, eager to capture every move, clicked their cameras away, recording every action.

The daylight drama was the climax of a night-long standoff the previous day when Akinyi stormed the club to reclaim it from an investor Mr Chinedu apparently leased it. Things happen while you are away.

A police operation that lasted four hours curtain-raised the main drama. Lang’ata police officer Patrick Mang’oli, said: “We were looking for anything and everything, including drugs.”

The goods — motorcycle tyres and tubes removed from the room and strewn on the parking yard — were clearly not what police were after. Still, they were screened for drugs and turned inside out — in vain.

All the while the protagonists, Akinyi and Chinedu, sat at opposite ends of the club. Chinedu at a tent facing the entrance where Akinyi was. With three male companions, Chinedu seemed unmoved, while Akinyi talked, occasionally, with the police carrying out the search.

Kenya Revenue Authority

Two cars were also towed away from the parking lot, destination Kenya Revenue Authority, for investigation on whether duty was paid. Similarly, the tyres and tubes were loaded into a KRA lorry. “Akinyi will want to use every opportunity to fix me. What have they got?” asked Chinedu, as the police left.

The exit of police heralded another round of drama, with Chinedu saying: “Akinyi should have looked for me. Storming the place was the most unfortunate thing she should have done,” he said.

But Akinyi, who had declined to be interviewed, paced towards Chinedu and proceeded to slap him on the head. Her relatives, however, restrained her

“Share what? I cannot share my property with him. Where is the evidence (of joint ownership)?” fumed Akinyi. She accused Chinedu of illegally leasing out the property which she said was hers.

A composed Chinedu laughed off the verbal tirade. He was unmoved and remained seated as she yelled.

“I’m back and he should know he will not succeed in his schemes. He took advantage of my absence but now I’ll take what’s mine,” declared Akinyi, whose flair for English language was impressive.

The Nigerian at the centre of a deportation court battle said the only solution was sharing property. He vowed never to surrender all his property, saying that even if he were deported, he would still claim part of the wealth.

The rival couple has court cases relating to their various properties and custody of their two children.

After she calmed down, Akinyi talked of her experience in India. She said apart from lack of freedom, she found the prison comfortable. “Indian jails are wonderful. There’s water and food and they are not congested. You get everything,” she said.

Texas.Cowgirl:
Nairobi, Kenya: Controversial Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu who has been facing criminal charges has been deported from Kenya.

Chinedu is among six Nigerians who were deported on Monday from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for being in the country illegally.

They were arrested from their houses on Sunday night in a police operation following reports they were involved in “dirty” businesses.

Sources at JKIA said they were all put on an international airline after being warned against being violent if and when they are there.

“Five of them have been deported and they are no longer in the country,” said a senior security official at the airport.

Nairobi Area head of CID Nicholas Kamwende confirmed the deportation.

Chinedu was facing a number of criminal cases and was in April arrested in his house with 10 grammes of heroin that he is believed to have either been using or intended to traffic.

The arrest followed an operation carried out in the city centre in which two men including a Nigerian national were nabbed for trafficking heroin.

The men were identified as Nelson Namunyu Mwangi who was found with 268 grams of heroin and Nigerian national Adebiyi Oluwatosin Fatai who had 20 grammes of the drugs.

They were arrested outside a popular club with the narcotics. Police say the two have been behind several incidents of drug trafficking in the city and they were expected in court again on Monday for mention of their case.

Cases of narcotics consumption are on the rise in the city and police are grappling with the situation.

Officers who were involved in the operation said several other mules managed to escape as they approached the scene. A major operation has been organised to nab the traffickers who are on the lose in the city.

Chinedu has been embroiled in a tussle over control of property with his estranged wife Joyce Akinyi and had asked the court to wind up their business in the city and the proceeds shared between them.

The rival couple has court cases relating to their various properties and custody of their two children.

Chinedu has also in the past fought deportation charges by authorities and succeeded.

Akinyi had in 2010 asked for the deportation of Chinedu on grounds that he was a danger to Kenya.

She wrote asking that "swift action will be taken to ensure Kenyans are safe from any activities that Chinedu is alleged to have been involved in".

There are close to seven cases between Akinyi and Chinedu pending in court.

Former Immigration minister Gideon Konchella on June 19, 2007 directed that Chinedu be deported because he "is one of several foreigners in this country involved in the commission of serious crimes involving trade in narcotics and money laundering".

However, Chinedu moved to court on June 13, 2008 to stop his deportation.

naptu2: The story has been on nairaland several times since 2008/2009.

Why then are these kenyans coming on here saying he's a drug dealer? I don't understand! Is it right to deport him without any criminal charge against him? We're not even sure he's lost those cases against his wife yet. Kenya is a jungle.

Ricky_Ross: Nigerian national Adebiyi Oluwatosin Fatai who had 20 grammes of the drugs.

These guys nor dey shame. A thing that is worth doing is worth doing well. Why must you spend several years in jail bc of just mere 20 grammes of drugs?

Don't worry about this news. This was a case of set up and Adebiyi was just a collateral damage. Chinedu has been in court with his Kenyan wife over his property and the best they could come up with was to set him up with drugs. It is high time Nigeria deals with all these poor countries riding on our bad reputation to met out wickedness on Nigerian citizens.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 31 – Drama unfolded at a city restaurant on Tuesday when controversial businesswoman Joyce Akinyi confronted her estranged husband Antony Chinedu, slapped him and hurled insults at him.

Ms Akinyi, who arrived in Kenya at the weekend from India where she spent six months in jail alongside former Assistant Minister Raphael Wanjala, lashed out at the Nigerian as he was speaking to reporters and went on to accuse him of being responsible for the troubles she underwent in India.

She was incensed by Mr Chinedu’s remarks to journalists that the disputed property "must be shared equally among them."

"Akinyi has been my wife for 10 years. We accumulated property with her, there is no problem in sharing it. That is what I want, but she does not," Mr Chinedu said before Ms Akinyi confronted him and started insulting him.

"Chinedu has been celebrating because I was away. He took over my property when I was in India but now that I am back, he must vacate," she said.

The latest controversy between the two follows Mr Chinedu’s decision to lease the New Deep West Resort Club to a local investor.

When asked why he leased the property, Mr Chinedu said: "This is our business. There was nothing wrong in leasing it because it had been neglected. Workers had not been paid and the place was in a total mess."

On her part, Ms Akinyi said Mr Chinedu was trying to defraud her of the property, which is one among many at the centre of an ownership tussle between the two.

On arrival from India, Ms Akinyi said that she found the property under the management of a businessman, whom she has vowed to evict.

On Tuesday morning, police officers from various units stormed the premise and conducted a raid, in an apparent search for contraband goods.

Lang’ata divisional Police chief Patrick Mang’oli said that they were looking for various items, including illicit drugs.

"We were looking for many things, including drugs but in the process we have found some motorcycle tyres which have been surrendered to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for verification," he said.

During the search that lasted three hours, Mr Chinedu and Ms Akinyi – who have divorced proceedings pending in court – were present.

The police later towed away two vehicles, which were found parked in the compound.

"These vehicles do not appear genuine and that is why we have taken them for further inspection," Mr Mang’oli said.

Ms Akinyi and Mr Wanjala were detained at New Delhi’s airport in September last year for failing to declare Sh7.5 million that they were carrying in hard cash.

Ms Akinyi said that they were both released following the intervention of former Foreign Affairs Minister Raphael Tuju.

"It is Tuju who helped us, it is not Prime Minister Raila Odinga or Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula," she said and narrated how she ‘led a comfortable life in the Indian jail’.

"Indian jails are very nice. I was in a self-contained room. That place is not like Kenya. There is no congestion there and we even ate good food," she said in reference to the time she spent at India’s largest Prison in Tihar.

So Nigeria still has unschooled ignoramus like you who lack proper etiquette in addressing issues. Guy you've really got serious issue, my advice to you is be more cultured!

The Kenyan lady has shown herself as crooked and corrupt by trivializing her corrupt dealings and Jail term in India for that matter. FG should take the correct measures in protecting their citizens outside our shore. Jungle justice ( dog eat dog) will not work here cos witch hunting will suffice if proper measures are not taken to find lasting solution

Thank God we didn't play politics with this news. maybe no politician was involved. Nigerians MUST learn to operate following rules; that way the world will respect our institutions. If we bend rules especially for politicians then we will keep fooling ourselves.
