One of the most reasonable post from Afam; the Op earned a ''Like'' !!!

This blogging of a thing has to do with Nigerians and our mentality ::::::: only few are creative in our country the remaining are copycat !!!

They will always wanna take accolade for another person's effort !!!

Most blogs lack Originality simply cuz everybody wanna make money from blogging !!!!!
Re: The Proliferation Of Blogs - Good Or Bad? by Bobbo(m): 8:11am On Jun 26, 2013
If you say bloggers are all out to make money then thats true. Do you guys know in nigeria that money sometimes comes before fun. Here is a country that you will have to try different things just because you want to succeed. I know you will say "try something you are passionate about" but how many of those things we are passionate about actually thrive in this harsh environment where no one cares until you have made it. I can only wish all the bloggers luck or maybe God's best..lol.. to copy and paste self is not easy and you all know that.. tongue. There are some wonderful blog I must confess.. if you need a good blog on softwares just go to ogbongeblog.com and if you want football at its peak, transfers and all go to poojaadebayor..com.

You're right on that but because it's Linda Ikeji, no one bats an eyelid. Bloggers have to learn to be original.

Poverty is the cause and lack of ideas on the part of some citizens...in Nigeria of today when people see that someone is successful at a smthing, others rush into it without 'thinking'...lindaikeji is only successful because she is probably the first to start blogging on entertainment ('don't know if she copies all her stories but most are copied and finetunned to people's taste)...just like jarus pointed out, i don't think we have educational, sports or arts n creativity blogs..the list is endless...

Ok, i get it. Your problem is that there are too many Nigerian blogs and they copy each others content. What do you want to do about it. Form a cartel to stifle freedom of speech? Organize some of your webmaster mates to lobby the house of assembly to outlaw blogging?

What is really your problem? Too many Nigerians are blogging or contents are too similar? either way, you a no business worrying about how many blogs Nigeria has. Just visit the blogs you like and STFU.

Imagine Huffington Post making $30k (N4.5m) per day, that's about $900k (N135m) per month.

Omho, the owners don hammer o.

And the blog was started in 2005, same year NL was started.

If I make 1m per month from my blog today, I'll quit my 9-5 job immediately and face it full time.

These are guys I'm looking forward to.

Very interesting post, and definitely one worth discussing. I got into blogging because I needed an avenue to share my thoughts (sort of anonymously). I also love to write and have a brother who is a web designer.
Re: The Proliferation Of Blogs - Good Or Bad? by Olaone1: 9:09am On Jun 26, 2013
Jarus:
Mashable.com - world's second biggest blog.

Cpfinance.com

I am not sure Mashable is bigger than TMZ, BuzzFeed, theVerge and Gawker.

I think their rankings change regularly
Re: The Proliferation Of Blogs - Good Or Bad? by CrimzP(m): 9:10am On Jun 26, 2013
Even the Linda copies some of her articles from other blogs. Is just that she already has a lot of audience so many people think she is the original owner of the articles. I respect bella and ladun a lot most of their content are very original.

Nice write-ups Afam and Jarus.

oyb:
unfortunately it has become an all comers affair
90% of the bloggers out there have zero passion about it and are just looking for a quick buck
from the lailaikeji clone to the those who dig up old photos and make up stories
let just one person come up wiath a successful tech blog and you will see a sudden influx of tech blogs

My thoughts exactly.
Nigerians simply lack the PASSION to be creative and outstanding but oh yeah, always quick and great at complaining when they don't get the anticipated income or desired success.
SMH, it's sickening!

Personally, I don't even bother reading any of those entertainment blogs even the linda's cos they've gat nothing educative to tell me, just purely a waste of my time - am rather on the look-out for educative blogs where I can learn and enrich myself.
Re: The Proliferation Of Blogs - Good Or Bad? by Nobody: 9:14am On Jun 26, 2013
So Huffingtonpost makes over N1 billion per year! And the Mashable guy is not doing badly too. Blogging is the new Oil and Gas, considering Linda Ikeji's blog makes at least, N12 million per annum.

CFCfan:

Seun has to do something to make Nairaland more visible. NL has the potential to rival HuffingtonPost.
I don't know how visible you want Nairaland to be again, any little Nigeria related google search I do, Nairaland is always number 1. Sometimes you can have the whole first page full of results from Nairaland.

Simply put .. Nigerians like bandwagoning .. we are only in it for the hope that something financial will come through from it and not for the passion that others from the western world engage in it

Dont say what you know nothing about, 99% of western bloggers do it for the money either directly or indirectly

Mahn, you are missing the mark.

We need more of originality, people should instead learn to be original and create their own niche rather than plagiarizing, it makes them silly and better yet, unsuccessful.

And that's the only thing you saw in my post?

Well, fyi, 9-5 is generally used to describe salaried, office jobs. Not the time that matters.

If you see me use 8-5 (which is normal Nigerian working hours), then I've only localized the generic name.

I personally think the issue with blogging in Nigeria is google.

Like someone said earlier you can see the most original article on a .wordpress or site.

How can an average 2go user or Nigerian find this through google?

Take a look at Ranksng.com browse through the tutorials, Job, Tech section you would see that there are some wonderful Nigerian blogs.

Exposure is just the issue for them. With more sites like ranksng.com blogging would improve, cos bloggers can focus on content instead of the time & money consuming hustle for traffic.

Ranksng.com is a collection of blogs, Top websites; Nairaland, ogbonge blog, Linda & all

I started my own blog, because I believed if Linda can do it, then why can't I? From my own blogging experience, entertainment & sex stories attract most traffic. Most people just open a blog for the sake of being called bloggers.Linda inspires me, & I know I'll be her male version soon.I copy & paste-we all do,but I only copy when there's a VERY long story & LESS time. Feel free to check my blog at http://olakunleologunro..com Corrections are welcome. THANKS.

Most of these Naija blogs only need 1 or 2 scoops. It is not wrong to blog for money/quick money.

TMZ reported some scoops like that of Mel Gibson and Michael Jackson.

Today, it is pretty big.
