On the topic, what stops them from having fun? Is there a law that says the elderly shouldn't enjoy themselves and hold pagents too? I say a big kudos and congratulations to her.

Kudos to them for having fun at their old age. Still doesn't erase that thought at the back of my head: if that lady is the finest they could bring the thought of the less finer ones bring cold shudders.

I think that's great.infact I think this pageant means more than the normal teenage adolescent pageant.any woman who has gone through all of life hurdles especially childbirth and comes out beautiful at 65 deserves to be celebrated.and here it would be a fairer competition cos there's little likelihood of the contestants sleeping with the judges to pass.

. Well spoken. Society tends to neglect the age in the society most times. For those of you calling these beautiful grandmas names wait till you get to their ages when your children has left home and nobody to talk with or when you are dump at d old people's home and only get occasional visits that is when you know what it is to be old and lonesome.

Contest organizers in Brazil have pronounced 65-year-old grandmother, Irenilda de Oliveira Meneses as Brazil's most beautiful elderly woman.

The pageantry was open to women who are above age 60. Out of 200 contestants, and being one of the 25 finalists selected to compete in the beauty pageant in Sao Paulo, the gorgeous grandmother has emerged queen.

Meneses, a mother of two, has this to say about winning the pageantry, "To win is very exciting, very exciting. I'm so moved, I'm speechless, very speechless".

The women were judged on their physical appearance, smile, personality, elegance and more. The entire essence of events as this, as summed up by contest organizer, Anilton Guedes, is that these elderly women feel like they are participating in life. They are brought out of whatever negative situations they face as a result of their age to feel happy, celebrated and young again.

Awesome stuff this is, you'll say.
