I THOUGHT YOU SAID . Each day, I sit and wonder Of what you said and I shudder. I thought you said You were different I thought you said The poor were your mandate I thought you said Our lives would be better I thought you said Only if we vote you to power I thought you said You grew with no shoes And I am still thinking We were played for the fools. . I thought you said There would be love and unity I thought you said There would be jobs and electricity I thought you said We should give you a chance I thought you said You understood our economic and mental trance I thought you said You were the man for the people And I am still thinking All I see is blood and evil. . I thought you said But why is the blood getting thicker? I thought you said But why is love getting thinner? I thought you said Where did you take grandpa? I thought you said Where is the truth in the lie? I still sit but in motion There was once no nation. . . Our nation would be a better place if we all keep asides, political, tribal and religious sentiments for the fulfillment of our neighbour |
