The now protracted election to fill the seat of Oguta state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly has been declared inconclusive.

The declaration followed hours of ‘blackout’ by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), creating room for speculative results purporting different winners.

Responding, the INEC Commissioner, Professor Selina Okoh denied ‘blacking out ‘ the public noting that the declaration of the election as inconclusive was made by the returning officer for the election to party agents at the council level...CONTINUE: http://crimefacts.org/again-oguta-assembly-seat-election-declared-inconclusive-as-parties-parade-conflicting-results/

PDP lost woefully although not by a wide margin. Outsiders are trying to detect for us but it will never work. So you are one of the Oguta sons that voted against Uzonwanne.

NEWS FLASH: INEC declares Oguta constituency re- run polls inconclusive
Posted by: legis admin Posted date: June 30, 2013 | 10:19 am In:

LEGISREPORTS NG – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the re -run election of Oguta constituency seat for the Imo House of Assembly, inconclusive.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Prof. Selina Oko, who confirmed on Sunday morning said there were discrepancies in figures and registered voters in three polling units in the election, stating that definite decision would be taken on the issue as the result remains inconclusive.

Another senior official who confided in LEGISREPORTS disclosed that when such incident happens in an election like this, the next action is re -run in the affected areas.

He said: “Yes, it is inconclusive. When an election is inconclusive, no winner emerges. You know the next line of action is re -run in those affected areas.”

The election is between Messrs. Eugene Dibiagwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Walter Uzonwanne of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

An Appeal court sitting in Owerri had some months ago nullified the election of Dibiagwu, who had barely stayed three months in the assembly before the nullification.

But an unsigned statement which unreliably was repeatedly announced on the Imo state owned Imo Broadcasting Corporation stated as follows:

“Imo Oguta Assembly election shows that APGA candidate is leading by over 3,000 votes, scoring about 10,000 as against PDP, 7,584 votes. Election declared inconclusive because PDP thugs hijacked and destroyed voting materials in about five polling booths. INEC will announce a new date for polls only in the affected areas.”

PDP officials have since denied sponsoring thugs.
