Get visiting visa and travel to Canada, get pregnant there and live for 9 months to get Canadian citizen?

Thanks Nita

Will i have to send a letter of intent to the consulate when leaving for birthing purpose if i got a visiting visa?
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Nita2013: 6:48am On Mar 23, 2015
Well my dear my advice iis based on experience of d few pple I av seen. They did not send any letter of intent but just went in like that.

D issue is canada from what I av gathered is not like d US where u ll just Google, call d hospital/doctor, book appointment and then go with email correspondence. U need to be in canada to get that cos it depends on where u r stayin.

Hotpepper pls elaborate more.

Porting things. . . smiley wink

Hotstepper, the major problem with birthing in Canada is being able to get a Dr that will accept an international patient. The few I was able to communicate with said one has to be on ground and even be a resident before she can be evaluated. So, it's quite difficult to know the financial implications and be armed with proof of financial solvency.

Any idea of any affordable Dr/Hospital that accepts international patients without insurance? What is the price like? Document processing Etal.?

Yes. It's different from the US. Yes, you have to be on ground. One of my family friends from Nigeria just had a baby. She got the visa first and then came and all.is well. Cost depends on if it's CS or not, location, doctor, hospital and providence.

Everything should cost more than 7000 dollars even if it's CS.

Use the online application and fill everything applicable to you and be truthful. A family friend got visiting visa for 4 yrs and came in Feb. There was no space to say her intention to give birth here via online. Wen she got to Toronto airport. The office has her stuff on the screen and when she was asked, she said there was no slot to say to give birth. The officer was happy because she said the truth and told her that most Nigerians come and lie when it's obvious they are pregnant. My family friend came in at 7monthd plus nd had her baby this morning

Yes, it is advisable if you had an interview and u were asked and u said no cuz at that time you were not. You are just sending it to be in their record and print any reply and keep in case

OK. Get visa first. My family friend is home now. Her total bill is not up to 4000 CAD dollars and it's CS ooo so Vaginal delivery will be a lot cheaper.

U can ask me why it's cheap and I will explain smiley

Wow! Please tell me you got the hospital's/Dr's details from her. . . I'm pleasantly surprised.

I think the best will be to apply for visiting visa before getting preggy and just write to the embassy to inform them afterwards.

Please does the 4000 cover both hospital and Dr fees, or is it just hospital?
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Nita2013: 6:42am On Mar 25, 2015
My dear I called her and she said same thing Hotpepper said that I av to be there first.

Yes that's what I was trying to say previously that it's safer to get d vis b4 getting pregnant.

My boss said she didn't write to d embassy though. That she just went in like that at 36weeks and cos her tummy is usually small, they didn't notice but if they had noticed she wud av told them.

I m waitin to see anyone that has sent d letter of intent to d embassy and their response. I sure kno US is more straight forward with things like this.

It is not a must for Canada to write but for US yes. For Canada, as long as you are truthful, they will let you in. People come and lie and they get sent back

It doesn't matter. My family friend was already preggy when she applied but she did online application and there was nowhere they asked if she's preggy or not so she didn't indicate. She wasn't called for interview either and was given 4 yrs visa.

Now to the info everyone is itching to hearsmiley this is not MHIS Cuz Canadian system is different since our health care is free. Lemme explain.

So for her,

1. Dr fee was 750
2. Hospital was 2500 per day and she stayed just a day nd it's CS Ooo
3. Anesthesia..640

Total is 3890 CAD

The baby paid nothing because immediately he was born, he's Canadian so his health card which was given immediately at the hospital made it free. All the specialist that came to check him like eye, hearing etc was free. So this is the part that in US that adds up cuz baby have to pay.

Thanks Nita. This being on ground thingy is the only snag I have about the Canadian birthing process. I like to know what I'm up against, especially cost wise, so I can be prepared.

Then again, how do you explain to the CPB that you can afford to pay without recourse to public funds if you don't even know the cos of the whole process?

By the way, I emailed the Canadian Embassy in Naija to ask if it was legal ffor to apply for visa solely to go have a baby and they answered in the affirmative.
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Nobody: 4:51pm On Mar 25, 2015
Hotstepper, thanks for that invaluable info. That means Vag delivery will be cheaper even with epidural. I'm still surprised.

Calgary you said? wink
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 4:57pm On Mar 25, 2015
My family friend them, they budgeted 10k thinking Canada will be more expensive. I told them to take 5k cash and then hold their cards...so she and the hubby had 10k cash in total. They were asked at the Toronto airport and they said how much they have and have card too incase. The officer didn't even ask to see it cuz they were truthful with their intention right from the start.

I secured them a 1 furnished bedroom for 3 months at about 800 dollars per month and also got my family Dr to secure an apt with them cuz u get assigned a gyne via a family Dr.

I am willing to help to be the best of ability as long as the person is truthful. I don't want to spoil my name oooo
