You people need to chill abeg! Diamond Bank engages in regular recruitment especially of entry-level staff. Career progression is in pyramid shape, not everyone can/will reach the top. If an institution establishes redundancy in identified staff, don't they have the right to terminate appointment? A business is established TO MAKE PROFITS, this isn't the goddamn civil service abeg, lets be objective.

The only cause for alarm will be if their benefits weren't completely paid, otherwise management reserves the right and prerogative to hire and fire as it deems fit! (in line with best labor laws/practices of course).

P.s I hold no brief for Diamond Bank, just hate to see subjective gibberish being bandied because a muthafucka with an agenda has a laptop and internet connection. The Big Corporations aren't always the bad guys, sometimes slackers abound in the system, i'll be damned if some lazy-bottom negro with a sense of entitlement feeds off my hard-work. God i thank u,2day marked 6yrs i have been workin in oceanic bank-turned ecobank.

whether you were sacked by way of non-performance or whatsoever it must surely come one day.it is either you resigned or they forced you to....no future in bank industry any longer.used and dump..it is time to have plan B&C.it is high time you thing of other thing to do for yourself....speaking from experience with Intercontinental bank..but thank God for my life today...there is a lot you can do for yourself...please take a bold step today.

Diamond bank reducted #5000 from my diamond bank account whit out my knowledge, so i,m not suprise to here that, they sack 100 workers. . Diamond bank is a bad bank.

. Must the hiring and firing be yearly ? The previous MD of the bank didn't act like this o. They shd check it and slow it down otherwise critics and their competitors will take it as an advantage over them. The Banks always use the downsizing as a preferred strategy to cut costs....its highly regrettable especially when the labour market is congested,aside downsizing there should be other areas to cut costs and maximize profits

Maybe a national population policy should be implemented limiting every couple to two child per family.

Nigeria present population is unmanageable, the country at its present stage of development shouldnt be more than 50 million max.

I won't discourage unemployed youths from trying to work in a bank, cos the few thousands or millions u may make before u re being sacked can launch u into a profitable venture. But, know dat banking is not a safe haven. This is a false story. I currently work with diamond bank and I can say they didn't drop up to 100 people , it was way less than that and trust me they were dropped for one reason or the other some of which were for fradulent and fraud related activities, the rest were really low performers and I know deep down people currently working see reason why some had to go.
The thing about working in a bank is simple, your contribution ie the kind of value you should add should be able to pay your salary and two others, when your contribution can't even pay your armed robber salary, then there is gonna be a serious problem. This is what you people see today when people are sacked from banks.

They didn't deduct 5000 naira from your bank account , you are on savings extra package and for that account , the minimum operating balance is 5000 naira, its a promotional account with comes with lots of benefits you can not see in other banks savings account. If you need your 5000 naira, walk into any of the branches , meet a customer service rep and request for a migration form, in 2 mins, you should be able to take your 5000.
