I think NCC missed the point. They said the tariffs give MTN an unfair advantage but removing the tariffs gives their customers an unfair disadvantage.
1. Virtually everyone uses more than onel line.
2. Every telecomm company primarily wants to make profit and there are the big 4 I.e. glo, mtn, airtel and etisalat.
3. They each try to expand their markets through adverts, reduced tariffs and improved quality
4. NCC is the sector regulator and they watchout for quality.
5. Since this is an open market and I believe MTN 's services are within the QoS benchmark. Reduced tariff is to the benefit of consumers and if the others can't compete. It isn't MTN's fault. If NCC wants to support Glo being an indigenous firm then there are other ways that this could be done and it will still benefit consumers. We comlain that Mtn repartraites our money to South Africa. Increasing tariffs will only increase mtn's purse as I assume they will still maintain a constant client base. Though I don't patronise mtn but they are the most innovative of the 4 with products like microbnking xaas, webplus et al. Instruct mtn to improve QoS and encourage them to furthe reduce tariffs and Nigerians will be better for it.

ipulse was great with 10k per minute to all networks after first minute call.NCC should have made it a regulation for other service providers to follow suit.Formerly customers complained that MTN is too stingy and now that they have tried to make their numerous customers happy NCC come with their wahala.

People, whatever you do ALWAYS GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT.
I just called MTN customer care and I was given a clear picture of the situation. Dial 180 and help yourselves.

PS:
SuperSaver, Ipulse and Pulse tariffs still exist. The rates have just been increased as ordered by NCC.
