NYSC corpers serving in Community Secondary School,
Orsumoghu, in Ihiala Local Government of Anambra State
were raided and robbed for 3hours from 12.30am to
2.30am on Monday July 15th with machetes and cutlasses
by the village hoodlums in the area. The corpers where
rob of their mobile phones, DVD players, shoes, clothes
and most importantly, two female corpers were dragged to
the bush and raped while some of the Male corpers
sustained Machete injury.
A male corper victim interviewed by naijaparrot reporter
says, the community is filled with dangerous and jobless
youths who specialises in smoking indian hemp and also
harassing serving corpers of their money.
The corpers also lamented about the insecurity of the
corper’s lodge, as it is located in an isolated bushy area of
the village whereas the principal and other teachers of the
school all reside in Okija which is the nearest open and
safest town to the village where the school is located.
The victim corpers commended the president general(PG),
which is the head of the village for reporting the case to
the police alongside principal of the school and also
promising to bring the hoodlums to book, relocating the
corpers to a safe house. The PG as he is popularly called
has instructed the vigilante in the village to guide the
corpers at night.
The corpers claimed, NYSC Area Inspector in the village,
has shown little or no concern about the incident. He has
neither called nor visited the corpers who were robbed
and raped. One of the female corpers raped has ran back
home for medical check up while the remaining corpers
which are four boys and two girls are currently living
together in fear in one classroom in Habbort Girls
Secondary School close to the NYSC secretariat in the
area.
The corpers claimed the Zonal Inspector is not aware of
the Robbery and Rape Attack, as the nonchalant NYSC
Area inspector has hidden the matter from him.
