THE SONG OF THE BEAVER
A Beaver once said to the Weaver,
"You are my friend",
Till the world ends,
When bombs shell,
And the rains end,
When swords in stealth still fall,
And death never ends,
You are my friend...

How can?
When you do not know who I am?
When helter skelter I ran,
But you do not ask,
When down my cheeks,
Fell tear drops,
In tracks so hot,
And you do not ask,

When behind me you went,
And yet looked so innocent,
When deceit created a hedge,
And lies became a fence,
All around you it went,
And you showed no care,
Yet you are my friend!!,
What a friend!!!

IT ALL OUR FAULT

Who shall we blame?
For a country that is filled with so much pain,
Should we blame the leaders for having no shame
or the people who elect them again and again.

Who shall we blame?
For a lover's broken heart,
are boys truly all the same
or don't the girls play thier part.

Who shall we blame?
When a culprit is sentenced to death,
do we blame him for having no positive aim
or the bad economy, for being in debt.

Who shall we blame?
When all our love ones have been hurt,
by friends and foes who now act the same
if there is no one to blame, then I guess its all our fault.

WORDS SO FEW

Words so few, thoughts so many,
My love is worth more than a penny.
My heart tells me we might not stand the test of time,
I have the premonition that our love might end up as sour as lime.

It ushers in untold fear,
With strange pain I cant bear.
From the day I waved,
I knew a vacuum had been paved.

I look forward to the day our conversation would last,
Whenever you dont call, I feel downcast.
They say there is someone in a relationship who loves more,
How I wish it wasnt me.

You would score an A in my fictional checklist,
Cos you’ve got everything I want to live forever with.
Self confidence might not be my strongest point,
Neither would oration be my onion.

I might be good at nothing,
But you are assured of something.
I am perfect at loving you,
That I would always do for you.

Deceive me not if you dont love me,
I would rather remain neglected than betrayed.
I miss you with every beat of my heart, no doubt,
You are the only one whom I can think about.

My hands hold each other as it cant hold yours,
It yearns for only your warm touch.
My heart beats faster wishing you were here,
Giving me the feel of joy, love and care.

My mind settles not but thinks about you,
I wanna talk with you cos our talks are overdue.
My lips are faltering and calling your name,
But your absence is causing so much pain.

You are the only one who makes me think,
I even see your face when I blink.
I really dont know why am acting like this,
All I know is that its you I miss.

I believe that we would be together sooner or later,
How I hope that time and day would pass faster.
So that I would be with you and hug you tight,
And never let go of you with all my might.

Forever wont be enough to write how I feel,
Cos words will be few but thoughts would be so many.

PAIN

Hatred is all I feel when I get a glimpse of it.
It matters not in what form
My heart darkened by anger
Frustration of being able to see
It’s a curse
It has to be
My mind being able to imagine…
SHAPES, WORDS, IMAGES
…………………….
Listen he says
But I cant:
VOICES…
WHISPERS…
SCREAMS…
Pain pain pain
It hurts so much
IT HURTS
My beautiful fingers
Her skin; how I loved touching it
Rubbing those curls
Gazing into those brown eyes
Seeing passion, content
Now all I see is pity, regret
Two new moons
All it has been
………………..
There is no gain without pain
Albert says
Albert…
A friend for the end of the world
The end of this world
My world
I see it now; nirvana
She’s all yours
I have this
My love
Now and forever… art.

FAREWELL

The hardest part of any friendship is when it's time to say goodbye.
We find it difficult to realise that the end has drawn nigh.

As much as we would like things to remain the same,
We just gotta return to where we came.

There might be many tools with which we can communicate,
None can ever be compared to the passion ur presence precipitates.

Though its been a short while,
I've never met a friend more worthwhile.

You treated me like ur family,
That i never realised you would leave eventually.

You helped me laugh, you dried my tears,
B'cos of you, i have no tears.

Even though you are not by my side anymore,
Memories about you would continue to stay in my heart evermore.

When we were together or now we are apart,
You are first in my thoughts and my heart.

I'm letting you know with this little rhyme,
What we have together would never be as sour as lime.

We meet to part and we part to meet.

WHY?

Why is this heart heavy?
Why do i cry so?
Why do i feel pained?
Why cant i let go?

Why cant i just forget?
Why wont this pain go?
Why cant i just smile?
Why do these tears flow?

Why does the sun shine?
This bright, vibrant gold?
Why cant it be gloomy?
Mirror this soul's cold?

Why do i feel so numb?
Where did the warmth go?
Why this constant frown?
I miss that smile so.

Why do i feel ur presence
and reach out, heart soared?
Why do i wake up then
heart pounding, all soaked?

Why do i cry in the rain,
When no one can tell?
Why do i play brave
and smile and pretend?

Why do i have just pictures
and memories and thoughts?
Why cant we create new ones
and frame them with love?

Why cant i see u?
Why wont u come back?
Why cant i embrace u?
Why make me yearn so?

Why go on that journey?
Why leave without me?
Why make me miss you so?
Why didnt you just stay?

THE FORTUNE TELLER

I had known my future,
Not through the fortune teller,
Through the vision of hard work and prayer,
My yesterday is dim,
Today is showy,
Definitely my tomorrow will be splendid.

Who is a fortune teller to say my destiny?
Who had empowered the fortune teller?
To cast my destiny with cowries,
My destiny is myself, myself is destiny.

You are a palmist of lies,
If you had seen my destiny, why not know your.
A fortune-guesser you are indeed.

My destiny is myself, myself is my destiny.
Fortune teller you see nothing,
But you form something.

You say the fisherman shall be impecunious,
fortunately he had become affluence as a fisherman.

Through word the world is generated,
Everything that comes through words the saint says is good,
But yours is destructive.

Soothsayer of deceit,
Remember you forecast declivity to the alien,
Now they are better than you.

Forecaster of evil
Making silver paper through cowries of lies,
Throw your cowries and tell me the country's future,
Your result is nothing than maybe.

Your libation is to cajole,
If the creator says yes, who are you to say no?

CHRONICLES OF MY LOVE STORY
I was blown by a strange wind
It was so gentle and kind
The wind came in the form of a woman
Beautiful enough to enchant any human

I got carried away and caught up by a feeling
A feeling that made my life worth living
So I begged for her to stay
And let my love have its way

She opened up her heart
And pleaded with me never to depart
Our love story was as magical as a fairy tale
Sensational enough to believe it can never fail

As we turned to the next page
We sat and watched our love age
After a dual chapter
Things did not go well thereafter
..................
Along the line I saw an ethereal figure beckon
I was lead by my subconscious not thinking for a second
Her beauty was completely indescribable
With eyez so alluring and remarkable

I got bounded by her love spell
And locked up in her love cell
Countlessly pondering if this was love or infatuation
If I was ever blown by a strange wind or just my imagination

My strange wind became once upon a time
As my new love blossomed and stood the test of time
We shared moments of Joy, laughter and hopes for the future
Leaving my strange wind in torment and self torture

I was not spared by a visit from karma
Which marked the beginning of a life of misery with lots of drama
For now she drifts into the arms of another
Here I am dancing to the tune I created for my ex-lover
.....................
Just when I thought it was all over
When I thought I'd live my life being sober
My frozen heart thawed & palpitated in its icebox
So my emotions geared up and watched closely like a fox

Her love came like a weapon
Fully loaded and airborne
It machine-gunned my defences
And made me lose total control of my senses

As I walked thro' the corridors & corners of her heart
I watched the walls of my worries & loneliness fall apart
Her love overwhelmed me and cascaded down like a waterfall
And left me wondering how I could be so loved inspite of my imperfections & shortfall

Her beauty was magnificent enough to let anyone marvel
Our heart became so connected & matched like a jigsaw puzzle
Just like an exotic vintage wine
Out love got better with time

The Feeling Game: the hate we call love

My tears is as water,
water to your tasty soul.
My words are as dust,
dust to an Eskimo,
It holds no meaning to you.
To you my smile is as fire works in a graveyard,
idle and wasted.
Daily I yearn for you,
wondering if you'd ever look,
look and see,
see the fire that burns in me,
the fire that burns for you,
but as stars to a drowning man,
you pay no attention.
Your disappointments get me weaker,
my pains offer you eternal pleasure,
so you bask in the river of pain you cause me.
To you I offer this,
to fill your unending hunger.
A message from one with a heart that aches,
to another with a heart that's dead,
I hope this brings you pleasure.

AFRICAN MARKET SCENE

Faintly, words are heard from myself
Clearly, I heard echoes from the chef

Whistles continue to bubble
Beggars continue to hustle

Butchers warn with strikes of matchet
Pick-pockets hustle at the mid-market

People make echoes from afar:Thief!Thief!!
A teenager exchanged his soul for mischief

I moved to the centre of the market
I need some used cloths and blanket

Railway is the conducive place for trade
The transportation system is betrayed

Blast from the train's horn makes them flee
Hoot of cars and commercial buses is free

I bet it, you get all that you desire
Fresh fruits to woman brassiere

If you have the gut, follow me to the dark stall
A place you can shop for human bone to skull

Mind you, the African market has lot to offer
You get all valuable treasures without suffer

Beads, pearls are unlimited and countless
Buy masks, ancestral figures and pay less

White-men came to the local "Adire" cloth market
I laughed, because they threw away their jacket

I took my sketchpad and pencil to draw the market square
I will keep my memoir even when I get to trafagal square

DINNER FOR BEAKFAST

My soul is empty for stuff!

My flesh is demanding for stuff!

My system is hungry and tasty for stuff!

Give me my stuff let me have for breakfast.

But your stuff is for dinner not breakfast!

Why do you decide to demand your dinner for breakfast?

You promised never to have your dinner for breakfast!

Why the sudden change of mind? Why?

Yes! I promised never to have my dinner for breakfast,

But I’m afraid to lose my dinner to demons!

I’m afraid for there are too many hungry demons

Looking for stuff devour!

I can’t afford to lose my dinner to demons,

For I may die of hunger before dawn!

Let me have my dinner for breakfast,

And let my soul be at peace.

Nairaland
Welcome to nairaland.com
a site with over one million registered users,
ranked eight most visited site in Nigeria.
More than five percent of her users are banned unjustly
Senu does nothing but make endless promises.
Unless threads keep making front page.
You protest, you get banned.

Nairaland, Oh! Nairaland
Literature and writing
my favorite section,
but the mod will not let you be.
You make suggestion or observation,
you recieve silly replies or get banned.
You complain, your posts get hidden.
Or get banned for an unreasonable reason.

Nairaland, Oh! Nairaland
Rejoice and shout with laughter,
if Senu has made you a mod.
For you are now a dictator,
a dictator with great and unlimited powers.
For where will nairaland be without her users?
Senu, don't forget
tide and market come and go
so shall nairaland.

AMAZING
You are amazing,
Just the way God made you.
You could be blazing,
As God has made you to be 'you.'
As you are wonderfully made,
And have been given a high grade by God.
Even sometimes things might go bad,
Just know that God is still good.

You are amazing,
As you have been buzzing.
And your talent,
Makes you so prudent,
Whether you are white or black,
Or fair or dark.
No matter your country,
Your achievements should know no boundary.
This shows that you are special,
As you possess the potential.

You are amazing,
Just as how hard you work.
People will always be gazing,
At your own work.
Your life would remain a study,
As People would do nothing but see,
Things you worked for known as goody.
As you fly high above the sea.
Even things in your mind,
Makes all to ponder;
And all they could find,
Is that you are such a wonder.

You are amazing,
And also so dazzling.
Don't take a glimpse off your imagination,
As it takes you beyond your limitation.
The secret in your smile,
Takes you a mile.
And as if you were a maze,
You cant help but to be amaze.

From the fathers...

Inspite of their conciliatory smile
Our face contort with hardened lines
Our lips form defiant shapes
And our spirits refuse to break.
For we know the sharks by their names
Our legs had not been crossed in midnight tales
We who fought with the blood from our veins
And beneath this stance, we still feel the pain.

Let deceit get deceived
Our gray hair testify wisdom
Let them keep on and speak...
But f.ool's chatter we won't receive
Not when we know the road to freedom
Carved out in the light of the ancient's wisdom
So let them still speak between their teeth
And flash us mischievous grins
While they shield our cups from the nation's rain
And share the cake we collectively baked.

Let them still speak...
Let them still speak...

But We've crossed these bridges enough
To decipher it all
And we surely know the truth behind their myth
And the lies behind their smiles.

CRAVING!!!

Craving!!!
A heart's desire
Fitted with wings
To soar with passion re-fired

Craving!!!
Of wanton lusting
Greed pitted against reason
And conscience lost to treachery

Craving!!!
A soul's longing
For love and peace, yet bidding
For all of the eartn's belonging

Craving!!!
An endless wanting
Ceaselessly consuming
Till everything is nothing

Craving!!!
A careless demanding
Roots forever sucking
Till death overtakes living

Craving!!!
Truly a heart's desire
With wanton wanting
Till the grave to retire

TRIBUTE TO YOU....J ZAZA(WK)

With pains in ma plane, heat in ma heart and ice in ma eyes
i held back the storm welling ova my firmament
Thinking, yet to sink in, cos in a blink you went over the brim.
Handed the Mantle over yet in a soulful prime
threw in the towel still in a sleek state

For once on this plain, we sowed
burned the mid night light
For a niche
we played, we ate,we read, we slept
And grew and graduated
but not until they threw stones at us
from which we extracted knowledge
they ravaged our young minds
yet strong still, we stood
In Our hood, rude bullets rattled in waves
Not week by, we don't take shield
blood bleed our streets
at the dawn of a new day
yet we will our wits
And gave it anoda stride, anoda mind

like a star you dazzle with the easy grace of a leopard
You had quick feet
to take out defense
and slot home a beauty
a shot that splits nets and marvel minds
and you were a 9ine
Gather the squad once again by-ova

10th October it was last year
Wen we sat and had you 1 plus
we hit the spot and set it off
even our table could testify
This is a rare blend

Aint spilling no tears for you gee
cos i know we wud meet again
in a place without tym nor space
they can light dier candles
but for you, i'd burn a forest
i'd hold your song strong.
till we meet to part no more
where else but where the angels fly?

Eyes and lips..

Such beautiful eyes
The kind that mesmerize
The innocence in them are bare to see
A peep in those eyes draw tears
Reminds you of the pains of days passed
And any man would want to remain in its mirror
Like butterfly stucked to a nectar

Oh she tops it all with a beautiful lips
Such lips you are willing to die to kiss.
So tender and soft
Like petals flourishing in the morning dew
A touch of those and a man would be enchanted
Bewitched by its sumptuousness and succulence
And transported to places of wild and heavenly pleasures

I wish I could explain more about the way I feel
But with your beautiful eyes and your beautiful lips
I could never reveal to you,
I close my eyes and dream of you in the best way my mind can do
And wish i wake up to find those eyes staring back at me
And those lips against mine...

No 44 OH NIGERIA (present nigeria)
Let us all hoist your flag,
Though there were holes when you were dragged,
The stands carrying your flag are weakened,
Causing pain to innocent pikkin,
The mother listening to the cry of her child,
But could do nothing because of the strikes,
A once history of many nations,
Now a misery like the white stallions.

Bombing and killing are now order of the day,
Corrupt officers claiming all the pay,
Truth has no place again in your kingdom,
Lies are now kings in your wisdom,
The rich living in novelty,
While the poor living in poverty,
Youths are not motivated to chill,
They are initiated to kill.

The situation is now simple complicated,
Though a paper giant where it is situated,
I asked the butterfly of the eighty's,
All he could say was it take stages,
Who will restore your glory,
Who will carry the cross of your rich history,
Only if we live together leaving each principle,
And creating a home that will reach her pinnacle.

TITLE - ORIN ARO

(…for the victims of heartlessness)

Every drop of the devil's balls
Lands heavily on my distant heart
Endless stream of tears, grace my mourning sight
And I am neck-deep drowned in their wailing tears.
Though I'm far away from the river's bank
Yet, the crocodile news haunts my earshot…

I sing of the killers of joy
I hum of the hunters of hope.

The carnival of sobbing Orphans
A monody of tragedy for the widowed ones
In crumbling houses and crying properties.
The heartless devil's ball falls once again,
Though I'm far away from the hellish lands
Yet the horrific scenes hunt my eye sight
And every day, the pallbearers, reluctantly
Market dirges to stardom
Under the far-flung eyes of ingrate orators

I sing of the killers of joy
I hum of the hunters of hope.

And those who hide behind the façade of calamities
Feasting largely on our empty plates of suffering
Whether they be villains or they be heroes
Whether they be terrorists or they be militants
Whether they be politicians or they be Devil's aides
The innocent bloods that flood the market places
Stagnate at Golgotha drumming for justice

I sing of the killers of joy
I hum of the hunters of hope.

B'ogun B'ajelo, Ogbon a jebo
Karma is undoubtedly the stubborn smoke
That puffs from the beaks of restless chickens
In the evening, always coming back home to roost
The tale of the gruesome archer
Who shot an arrow into the sky
And hides under the veneer of a heartless mortar…

He'd forgotten

That the silent tale of nemesis is a season film!

Destructible end

An end with an endless trail,
flowing through the nile as a timeless grail.
Gray hairs of wisdom flock through our endless soils,
mourns and tears wet the corpse of our ancestors.
Christ has been sent to us,
To create an end without an endless grief.
Yet we strive against him with our full fledged sword,
Signing our signatures for a destructible end.

HOME and AWAY
(I am a true Nigerian everywhere).

With love, strength and faith,
I had kept my promise
Within my father’s land,
Raising her flag so high,
Serving with heart and mind,
Conscious of her history,
Creating love from her wars,
Making unity in her diversity,
Considering my father’s pain
Which must never be in vain.

I have crossed the seas,
Going with me a nation,
Letting out her heritage
Through culture and pride,
Sharing it to all with love and smile.

In many, I come first
Through honesty and hard work,
Smelling of her aura,
When my heart beats her anthem.

I might have leave,
But I will never be gone
To a place so far
Of a journey so long,
Without my home in my heart.

In me you see my father’s land,
In me you see a new generation,
In me you see good people of a great nation.

Home and Away!
I am a Nigerian.

For the Greater Good!

From the chambers in the courts of the heart,
Thoughts gush, pronking like a hart,
Walking in fiercely like thunder's rumble;
Let I be, my petitions to make, not grumble,
For the creator has sent me here
And this message ends must hear.
Confused and lost, thoughts whirled,
Wonder I, why I'm here - in this world.
This world seems to me unfair,
Querying if God knows how we fare;
In the bosom of wisdom, unfit I to lodge
But for the little I know, I cannot dodge.
Life makes us joyous
But same dolorous;
We long to possess gains
But sometimes share pains:
The Bible has said a worthy thing,
"There's a time for everything!"
The good has been taken away
And this has caused more than dismay;
With God, answers hoped I to find,
"For the greater good," He opined;
And one thing ensues from this:
In God, find mourners, solace.
"We meet to part and part to meet!"
These words, common, far from deceit.
Though today brings forth sorrow
But God promises joy tomorrow;
It doesn't matter who here performs a feat,
What matters the most is meeting at Jesus' feet.

Broken nets, barren lands, the potters have lost their clay
They say love is a crime, they told us it never pays
They destroy what we stand for and put our broken dreams on display

No, donot hope for a tomorrow
For its just another today, its ANOTHER DAY
When the native man may rise and fall from glory and fame
We all strive to win but for the struggle, we hate the game
Caress its lovely beauty but the beast we fail to tame

Easy now, here she comes 'tomorrow' ANOTHER DAY
Dwelling in the present, past memories plead to stay
What lies ahead should stay ahead, the old ones rush to say
But the Youth own today yet for a brighter tomorrow they pray
Fun and excitement all today, while tomorrow leads them astray

Tomorrow is a riddle, Tomorrow is the yesterday to come
Learn from yesterday and modify the present, today
Look, tomorrow is almost born
Focus on the now, forget bout the then, tomorrow is never today
Although if today becomes yesterday then tomorrow is today
To Nigerians, use up today, for only a moment it would stay
The sun is up, the wind is calm, its time to make hay
Run the race and pass the baton, living life is like relay
Hardwork is the key to success, it deserves to be on replay
Now let's work towards a better tomorrow for It is ANOTHER DAY
