I did my interview with Panel 4 in Abuja, Aug 28. I was pleasant and lovely. The panelist love my product and use it right there. They said many encouraging things. The woman among them advise me to open a centre in Abuja as she will like to buy my product. On the grant they also said I don't need 10m for d business. In short they asked me to list how much each item of my cost category which I did. They offer advice like I have to quit my present job if I would pursue my dream successfully. All in all, I was ok with d chat. I hope and prayer YOUWIN! Decision will not be based entirely on d panelists submission.

edundayo: Did a critical review of my interview with the panelists today and I'm kind of glad it went it way it did because it's an eye opener.

Actually, the panelists categorically expressed how glad they were with my passion for the business and what I'm currently doing but they just wasn't impressed with the currently level of cashflow as against the amount I forecast for the next 12 months, to just the amount of grant applied for.
I would have agree with them in saying they don't believe that the income forecast is feasible for my market, but that's because they were looking at it from a too narrow minded perspective and their unwillingness to listen denied us both the expose of the strategy through which I plan to make it happen.
I really don't know for these YouWiN panelists but if you ask me I'd say I'm wowed how any entrepreneur or business person of their calibre "in this century" would be so resistance to the idea of "multiple streams of income".

And they said the idea of YouWiN is to create jobs and they wanted us to start on a such a meager levels? They gotta be kidding me!
I'm foreseeing a much lower level of job creation for this YouWiN 3 if they go around over cutting the amount applicants are applying for.....imho

I really wonder why the government can't set aside up to N20bn for this project and make the grants between N10-N20m so that proper businesses can be built that can really create employment. What sort of business can a person really create from scratch and provide employment with it? I know if all youwin awardees in the past are checked, most of the new businesses would have died out with mostly existing businesses surviving. This sort of money is what you use for expansion and not for startup to create employment. The cash flow needed to pay Salaries is pretty huge.

Existing businesses will always perform better than new businesses in these sort of thing. I wish you the best.

Did mine yesterday... It went well tank God. I was asked about my competitors, understanding of the market, what I was going to use the money for, how my product will stand out.... They suggested the money I requested looked too much. I explained what it will be used for.... Notin on break even analysis or explanation of my cash flow was asked.. It was smooth.... And lovely panelist. Wish us all the very best

I hope we won't have to wait another 2 months after the last interview today to get the final result. There is a way this waiting for the YOUWIN final list tie you down from not doing some other things you would have love to go ahead with

dstan: I also heard from unconfirmed sources yesterday at the venue that the number of winners have been increased to 3,100 though I could not verify the gist but I feel its possible because of the upcoming elections. Afterall, the older citizens got a share of d national largese frm d national conference,so why not d youths from a productive initiative as youwin! ?
I think same.

Is there any one that notice how and where they assess candidates? because I didn't see them my presentation and response to questions.

Sure, you must not have noticed, I think I spotted that; they've got a set of criteria/schemes printed on an A4 paper in front of them, which they were either ticking or assigning marks to, as I was presenting and responding to their questions. I'm guessing its mush be so for every panel/applicant.

I wouldn't count on that that figure cause it seems to overrated and "borrowing the word of the panelists" not feasible; 3,100 is 1,900 over the usual 1,200. I'll like to align myself with 1,500 which to me seem more reasonable. Don't get me wrong if it were possible I'd be glad even all invited for the interview were awarded.

Definitely it's 1500 that will be awarded the grant from the 2500 that attended the interview. But one thing I'm not comfortable is the fact that the composition of the panel favour others and some panels are more critical than others.

I am made bold to tell u dat favourable or critical panelists will have nothing to do with d outcome. Dey were just trying to get d same thing using different approaches which I bliv dey had got. Don't be surprised when u eventually hear dat dose dat were heavily criticized had d best biz plans from their respective zones. That is a fact abt any interview be it panel or not. I pray u win and I win too. Amen.

Fellow Nairalanders, after my interview all my four template papers we were told to prepare for the interview were returned to me. I also noticed that others who did their panel interview that day I did mine in Abuja also came out with their own. Is the experience the same for others? I was thinking that they were supposed to go with the papers because I thought that they will take them back for further assessment. I will like to know of the experience of others, most especially those that did their interview in Abuja.

we all are winners already. I got information from a reliable source in youwin admin that the purpose of the interview is to determine the genuineness of your business plan and to fish out those that were helped with the proposal and this they can only know from your in-depth knowledge, composure and eloquence. They are not specialists in your field but psychologists . Note if they cant fish anyone that was helped out ., we all will get the grant though amount given will be reduce.
