What do you think of changing the law to allow these guys to take extended leave to do contracting jobs ?
SF and Task Force invest a of of time and money in training them. Doesn't make sense to me to just disavow them for trying to make some money on the open market.
It would also allow the gov. to have more control over how and where they operate. The current prohibition doesn't seem to achieve anything.

There's nothing in SA law that precludes anybody from applying their trade anywhere in the world. Military regs though are out of sync with the Constitution by denying service to the Reserves to anyone who's worked for a PMC.
So it's a case of the SANDF changing their regulations to fit in with the Constitution and the law.

Since then, Angola and Namibia have participated in a limited scale in IBSAMAR exercises on the Atlantic side of things. Tanzania and Mozambique in Exercise Oxide on the Indian Ocean. But yes, none of those are SADC exercises. Nothing we can do when the other countries claim not to have the funds. It is frustrating how little progress SA Navy has made getting the other navies to play along with their limited assets.

The minutes of a SADC Naval Chiefs meeting in 2016 were leaked and are available online, if you're into self-flagellation. If it were up to me, SADC countries would combine all their naval assets into a unified command:


1) Atlantic Command HQ - Simon's Town;

- (i) Atlantic Base 1 - Cabinda, Angola;
a) Naval Station - Luanda;
b) Naval Station - Walvis Bay;

- (ii) Atlantic Base 2 - Cape Town, South Africa;
a) Naval Station - Port Elizabeth;


2) Indian Command HQ - Durban;

- (i) Indian Base 1 - Durban, South Africa;
a) Naval Station - Durban;
b) Naval Station - Maputo;
c) Naval Station - Pemba, Mozambique;

- (ii) Indian Base 2 - Dar es Salaam, Tanzania;Louis
a) Naval Station - Antananarivo, Madagascar;
b) Naval Station - Port Louis, Mauritius;
c) Naval Station - Victoria, Seychelles;


Of course, this SADC Naval plan will remain amongst all the other shelved plans for a while. Some of us will keep pushing for a more integrated SADC.

A Nigerian Air force training air plane has reportedly crashed in Kaduna. It was gathered that the plane crashed in Kauran Dawa in Saminaka Local Area of Kaduna state.
The airplane known as Diamond 40, is a one person seater training aircraft which is used for training of personnel at the NAF base.
However, no casualty was involved as the pilot of the airplane came out unhurt.

I actually applied just for the fun of it even though I merit all their requirements; my grade, age and other criteria were perfect. I just chose not to accept.
