Batmobile Of The Skies.

Helicopters aren’t given much thought when compared to fighter jets due to lower speed and agility. But every once in a while technology takes a leap forward and changes our opinion. The debut of Sikorsky S-97 Raider is a big game-changer for the world of attack helicopters. The S-97 is boasting speed and agility far beyond other helicopters.

In development, the S-97 is boasting flying speed of 276 mph far making it the second fastest helicopter ever made after the experimental Eurocopter X3. The Raider is capable of transporting six passengers alongside two pilots but is also capable of autonomous flight. Along with its impressive speed, it can fly to an incredible height of over 10,000 feet.

“In addition to flying at nearly twice the speed of a conventional helicopter, the S-97 RAIDER helicopter will incorporate other key performance parameters critical to combat operations — increased maneuverability, greater endurance, and the ability to operate at high altitudes.”
As prototypes improve the S-97 will undergo weapon testing for its .50 caliber and rocket pods. The Raider is a sleek, impressive and but could be the innovation the military needs for helicopters?Take a look at this clip and judge for yourself.

DAFUQ?

Ugandans have lobola?

Oh well, the Ugandans rejected the 100 cows, they said the offer was "dehumanising". However, they did take 5 goats.

Strange

Pelindaba, South Africa.

Site at which hundreds of kilograms of highly enriched uranium is kept. U.S has been pressuring South Africa to get rid of it for ages, but SA government is not interested.

There's nothing disgusting about Women in Combat role.
Yes, they can't be at per with Men but its too harsh to say they are disgusting.

Some men couldn't even pass Airborne Course yet we have women who easily passed it.

1. We both know that selection standards for women are different for selection standards for men.

2. A nation that sends its women to war is disgusting.

"Mountains of scientific data and empirical evidence are irrelevant because I have pictures of women looking tough on the parade ground"

USMC study found that female only, and mixed-sex units sustained higher casualties and exhibited inferior combat effectiveness in the overwhelming number of tasks performed.

You can post all the "strong independent women" you want, fact remains that they have no place in combat.

Watched a video a year or so ago, think it might of been on defences SA or something like that where they explicitly said that females have to (will try to find it) pass the same physical and mental selection courses as men....... How this correlates to actual combat effectiveness I don't know, but I will say I can't ever see a women soldier saving my 107kg injured ass in an actual combat scenario.

2. I agree

Political reasons, RSA uses it as a tool in the UN - ie "look, RSA has complied with global treaties and disarmed, why has the US not complied with those same treaties?"

They are primarily concerned that we will covertly share such technology and know-how with the likes of Iran. But South Africa isn't about to give up such a golden egg, even with U.S pressure.

"Males and females who participate in the SANDF physical fitness tests undergo the
same tests, and their scores for each test vary among the sexes"

"Contrary to studies
by Yanovich et al. (2008) and Blacker et al. (2009) which indicate that males
perform better than females in military physical fitness tests, the females performed
better than the males in the SANDF fitness test"\

This though:

"study suggested that the information regarding the total
accumulated points might be misleading, as the males still performed better than the
females in the test, but the points did not reflect this because the females were scored
differently from their male counterparts
"

If the thieves were actually able to steel any enriched Uranium then the USA would have had some justification but instead the thieves were arrested and the security system at Pelindaba was overhauled.

Secondly unlike Nigeria and Ghana we actually use our uranium for generating power and manufacturing of medical isotopes to fight cancer, it's thus integral to our health department and economy(especially the Western Cape).

Lastly It's been 11 years since that incident and there have been 0 security breaches, the US thus have 0 justification to ask us to relinquish our enriched Uranium.

Namibian Navy Brass Band participated at the official opening of the 11th Lüderitz annual crayfish Festival that was held on 28 April 2018. The Navy Brass Band led the float procession, which marched through the streets of Lüderitz.......

The Namibian Navy send three vessels to witness the festival with NS Elephant and NS Brendan Simbwaye making their 3rd and 2nd times respectively while NS Brukkaros making her first call at the Lüderitz port. The journey started on the 20th of April 2018 with various fleet exercises which include fleet formations, live firing exercises, boarding and searching and finally patrolling, clearance and securing of the port by the Marine troops.

The Pelindaba breach was *supposedly* done by foreign intelligence agents trying to get their hands on the technology for pebble bed reactors. At the time we were world leaders in the field.

Pelindaba is a huge facility, the part that suffered the breach was a "lower" security area.

But an embarrassing incident regardless.

RSA has a number of such sites, I believe we have BSL-4 lab in Gauteng where they keep some really nasty biological stuff.

I wish RSA and Nam would do more meaningful exercises together.

I have a dream of a permanent SADAC brigade (Modeled on the French-German brg) composed of elements from RSA, BOTS and NAM.

It could be a quick reaction formation composed of light infantry.

Good luck with that! Long ago I realised the majority of posters here assume warfighting is a game or like it appears in movies. Recently the KWS,an org overrun with foreign social reengineering ideas had actually inducted female wardens for anti poaching duties. 5 years ago one was leading a patrol-not to speak ill of the dead but the survivors all said even after the first 2 AK bursts she still couldn't figure the ambushers pos, which was 25 m on her 3 o'clock, female spatial awareness is worse than men,not to mention strength, stamina and general tactical awareness.
Another KWS gal in Tsavo died in similar circumstance the same year 2013,IIRC. They finally accepted reality and quietly rescinded the order for armed female wardens.

The first picture

When radioactive material is submerged in water , the water gives off a bluish glow known as Chekhov radiation ( not sure about the name though )

So if any of u guys suspect that ur unlucky enough to end up with a suspected radioactive gift

Just dip it in water , if the water starts glowing blue then go and book a space in the nearest cemetery grin

1) did they abandoned it though? since last year (or the year before) the Gripen successfully designated a target when the mokopa was fired from the Rooivalk during a display.

November 2017 I think. They demonstrated that it works. However, there're still issues to be ironed out due to the speed differentials between Gripen as designator and Mokopa/Rooivalk. That's why the missile missed by 1m. Denel has taken the decision that no further work will be undertaken on the Grip co-designation until they have the funds.

In the meantime, the Hawk, other helos and Seeker UAVs can do the buddy aerial designation.
