My laptop recently fell from my hand some weeks ago, since then when I put it on it will be displaying on the screen date and time error and if I prss F1 to access the setup it would be asking for password, plz the gurus in the house help me oooooo |

your computer might be virus infected. Have you installed anti-virus protection on your system? Norton? McAfee? AVG? Nod32? Avant? Or have you update your anti-virus lately? If u know about computers,try reinstalling d driver but if u dont pls call dis no 08026220123,his name is wale he 'll surely help u out. |

your cmos battery must have been dislodged when the laptop fell down.theres an ibm repair center in vi somewhere, as to the system asking for a bios password, the implication is that someone other than you set it up. |

oyb:I couldn't agree more! If you're comfortable opening inside your PC, then go ahead and remove and reinsert the battery. However, keep in mind that this will reset your BIOS settings back to the factory settings, which should enable you set a new password. Like I stated, only do this if you're comfortable opening your PC, otherwise, I'd suggest you let someone that knows about hardware take care of it for you. On the other hand, I think virus is your least concern now considering the scenario you stated. |

Removing an IBM laptop password is not that easy. It require special process and someone who understands how it works. It is not like disabling the battery which u do in most desktop systems. If I tell u how to remove it u might not be able to do it. It will require a bit of electronic knowledge for u to do it. U have to take it to a Laptop engineer b4 u damage it further not just any engineer. Thanks. |

I'm sorry, but i must ask - what is a 'laptop engineer'? where does a laptop engineer get certified? whats teh difference between a 'laptop engineer and your typical nigerian artisan?  |
