In a Daily Mail interview, Dr David Ashton, medical director of Healthier Weight Centres said, ‘There is absolutely no evidence to suggest a cream could dissolve fat – and this blind test, as unscientific as it is, shows these expensive products are just hope in a jar.

Another doctor, John Ashworth, agreed saying: ‘If anything were to have an effect on the testers’ weight, it could be the act of massage itself. Massage might break down the fibrous tissue that holds this fat in place and the fat would be dispersed. But it wouldn’t really matter what cream you used. Repetitive massage encourages the lymph glands to flush out excess fluid, which might also have a slimming effect.
