Life has not always been like this. There was a time we had enough money even to build our own house; but due to inadequate plan for the future, and the restructuring of Harry’s work place which led to him now being jobless, life was now very terrible.

We were living on the little savings that Harry my husband had in his account and also from the help of our family members. Things took an ugly turn when early one morning, our landlord came demanding for his rent which was long overdue. “I have given you more than enough time! Nobody will let you live in his house for over 5months without payment. Just see as you dey suffer this fine woman ehn”. He said pointing at me. “If by the end of this week you don’t have my money, I will come with the local touts and evacuate you from here’ our Landlord concluded.

My husband didn’t utter a word as he was overwhelmed with shame. Harry is the shy type, but not when a few bottles of alcohol had gone down his throat. “Am going for the interview I told you about, use the money under the pillow to prepare something” Harry said.

I couldn’t take any more of this. When Harry had a job he made sure I got all I wanted and even more .Even is mother was tormenting me,calling me a barren woman, he stood by my side even till this moment. Now it’s my turn to help him, I won’t let him carry this cross alone.

Immediately he left, I went to my Landlords place as he had been disturbing me to sleep with him since we started owing him. He said if I allow him.....
